Maris (1068) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - JAN 5, 2015
from a 330ml bottle on 5/1/2015. Pours a murky reddy brown with the brest of heads. Has a nice strong sweet toffee malt aroma. Take a sip and you get more sweet toffee, caramel, golden syrup, as well as some tart fruity booziness, finishing with a medium dry lingering bitterness. The palate is a little oily and the carbonation soft. Does present more as a barley wine than a red ale, but regardless, it’s a very pleasant and moreish sipper. I’m quite surprised this is not rated more highly on here.

CharlieTwoPies (29) - United Kingdom, - DEC 25, 2014
Bright copper red colour with small white head. Not particularly persistent but some retention. Spicy, vinous aroma like a warming fruit pie. Sweet cherries, raisins, and alcohol. Nice warming mouthfeel with sweet caramel tastes of vine fruits and sugar and alcohol. Nowhere near as hoppy as I expected. Not sure what differentiates it from a barley wine. Despite apparent alcohol in aroma and taste it is still very smooth with the right touch of caramel to balance some fruity bitterness from the hops (presumably). Overall very nice. Not perfect. But very nice

thirstyrabbit (1254) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - DEC 21, 2014
Bottle #6781. 2012 vintage. Light copper body, small head. The aroma has sweet baked apples and butterscotch, also some barrel wood - quite similar to some barrel aged beers like Founders Backwoods Bastard etc. Very smooth. Sweet caramelly taste with more apples and butterscotch. Hints of brandy in the finish. Not exceedingly complex but still very enjoyable because it’s smooth and rather well balanced. I like it.

suurjuust (1361) - ESTONIA - DEC 16, 2014
Clear orange beer, medium off-white head. Fruity, malty, toasty caramel nose. Flavor is caramel-dried fruity with malt, nutty notes. Hoppy-herbal finish with caramel hints and booze. Slightly vinous mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Bottle shared by martjoobolut, thanks!
