"My goodness", muttered Claus, recalling his visit to the Institute, "the restrictive outerwear, the padded room-even padded Christmas tree ornaments. Horrifying! Yet the little chap seems happier than hes ever been" Claus took a thoughtful sip of a most warming red ale. "Perhaps sanity is over-rated...Ho,Ho,Ho!"

"Vintage 2007". Aroma of caramel and reddish stone fruits. Clear reddish color with a white head that didnt last. Medium body with fizzy/creamy carbonation. The flavor is caramel, fruity (cherry or berry), and a little alcohol. The finish is dryish and a woodiness tends to build. Not getting much hop. The heat starts to be noticeable. Something like sultana appears. Might be a bit of date. Doesnt seem so dry as a bit ago. Its a good sipper.

(Bottle, 2010 vintage, courtesy of blutt59) Pours a clear golden body with a spare white head. Aroma of cardboard, spoiled fruit, herbs, and sour baby runs. Flavor of apricot, cardboard, burnt grain, and caramel. Drop of the elf and I agree with the name of this beer.

(33cl bottle) Small beige head that almost wholly dissipates atop crystal clear amber body. Aroma is sweet, caramel, cherry, light raisin, grapefruit. Taste is treacly sweet, cherry, caramel, some alcohol, medicinal (cherry). Full body, some syrup, low carbonation. When I drive I assiduously avoid looking at trainwrecks, but with the Ridgeway Elf (and even Xmas generally) series, I find myself compelled to try each one, despite the near certainty that Ill be disappointed. Sadly, no surprises with this one.

Bottle. Poured clear brownish copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy malt, dark fruit and small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and lively carbonation. Moderate to heavy complex dark fruit sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. This is a good complex beer.

12oz bottle-pours a foamy light tan head and copper/orange color. Aroma is light malt/grain-light caramel, metallic. Taste is syrupy/slick and alcohol up front, moves to light malt/grain-light caramel, metallic hops, some cherry. OK carbonation. Somewhat unusual. Occasional.
