Jonte (376), Gothenburg, Sweden May 11, 2008 Updated: Aug 16, 2008 Bottle. Yellow and a bit hazy color with a white head. Hoppy citrus and floral nose with notes of white bread, toffee/caramel and grass. Bittersweet taste with notes of citrus, flowers, yeast, sweet fruit, light buttery. Light to medium bodied. A nice english style IPA.
DarkElf (2661), La Jolla, California, USA Sep 6, 2008 17-May-08 (500-ml bottle: Purchased 09-Nov-07 for $4.99 at the Pizza Port Bottle Shop in Carlsbad, CA) This beer is surprisingly hoppy and bitter for an English IPA. The earthy, dusty and somewhat resiny hop flavors are prominent, with a basic malt backing staying in the background. The beer is moderately bitter and minimally sweet. Dusty, grainy, almost tea-like nose, but no sweetness. Medium in body with light-medium carbonation and a clean and fairly crisp mouthfeel. Medium-golden in color, slightly hazy, and capped by a bubbly, off-white head that settles to a filmy layer. A good, hoppy English ale. bhensonb (2887), Woodland, California, USA Sep 4, 2008 Bottle from John’s Marketplace in Portland, OR. Darkly orange tinged golden color with a decent, frothy white head. Strong fruity aroma, which suggests peach. Medium plus body with extra creamy carbonation (BC!). Flavor is fruity bitter over rather caramel malt. It’s not excessively bitter. It’s fruity bitter. Doesn’t bite, but it is quite strong. Darn, but it seems so fresh. It tastes so good. One of the better Hepworth products I’ve tried. The finish is somewhat astringent. This one should not be passed up. Fenomenale, fantastica, and grandissima birra indeed. Best beer I’ve had all day! mikkopen (106), Oulu, Finland Sep 1, 2008 500 ml bottle. Golden orange colour, dense medium-sized white head. A pleasant aroma of citrus fruits and floral hops. Flavour begins with mild malts and citrus, but they are quickly overrun by strong hoppy bitterness. Long bitter aftertaste. jgb9348 (1827), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Aug 19, 2008 Nice slightly hazy golden coloured body with a crisp orange glow and a perfect sized dense tan head - very nice! Aroma of fresh hops, grapefruit, oranges, pine, malt and a touch of alcohol. Medium-bodied; Strong hops up front (dry hopped) with a light malt backbone, yeast and citrus strong at first. Aftertaste has a lot of hops, some malt character and a mild yeastiness. Overall, a decent IPA - looks and smells better than it tastes, but all-in-all, not a bad beer! I sampled this 500 mL bottle purchased on 12-July-2008 from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York, sampled on 19-August-2008. Lord_Corkscrew (560), Ronco Scrivia (GE), Italy Jul 16, 2008 Cazzo è fenomenale!! Fantastica IPA dall’aroma avvolgente sapore deciso e lo sapete che a Ostia avevano fatto un teatro ma poi l’hanno usato per venderci il grano? Grandissima birra.
