beisen (90), California, USA Nov 23, 2007 Decent stout. Black pour with no head. Chacolate and caramel in the flavor with a fizzy mouthfeel. Decent, but there are much better stouts out there.
punkeedo (391), San Antonio, Texas, USA Jan 9, 2009 2008 Bottle. I can’t believe what a low rating this has. A WONDERFUL holiday stout that I wish I could get year round. Smells of berries and dark chocolate. Pours a thin dark, syrupy texture with a small cream-colored head. Tastes of roasted malts, cocoa, berries, and slightly of alcohol. Palate is very even, though a bit oily. This is a great beer...I don’t know who in their right mind would think less of it. carboloader (308), Houston, Texas, USA Jan 7, 2009 Pours opaque, soapy tan head, aroma is malts, sweetness, almost smells like a porter to me. Quite sweet, almost too much sweet malts. Tastes relatively flat and simple. Nice alcohol kick though. Foxbush (373), Richmond, Virginia, USA Dec 31, 2008 This is Christmas 2008 Stout. It is a good one. The black color is like coal. Very little head but poured a deep black. There are malt flavors and some chocolate. The Stout is smooth and full bodied at the same time. I will do more research on this brewery. I enjoyed this first stout. It does have a sweetness that other stouts do not have.
MrRain (347), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Dec 30, 2008 Bottle poured into a shaker, shared with Brooke. RLoC pours dark brown but not the jet black that the bottle brags about. The head is medium to small. Unsurprisingly the aroma is of toffee, coffee and chocolate. The body is super thick, one of the thickest beers I have ever had. It is also silky. This beer is almost too thick and silky but I will not take points off simply due to the uniqueness. The taste is rather simple and uninspired. It consists of chocolate truffle and decaffeinated coffee, This is a drinkable beer but certainly not in the top-dog category. emacgee (1314), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Dec 29, 2008 Thanks mom for sharing. Poured a thin dark brown that allows much light. Head is fizzy light tan and composed of large bubbles. The nose is sweet, malty, peaty/earthy, caramel. The flavor is earhty, chewy/bready malt, raisiny. Tastes like a dark scotch ale. Little to no hop presence. The mouthfeel is chewy and malty with minimal carbonation.
