Bottle (from Southwick Brewhouse, BB May 07). A load of crap about terroir and rubbish organic malts on the label. Not overly hoppy on the nose - slightly fruity with pleasant grass. A little malt sweetness and minimal bitterness leaves the tart yeast flavours as the main focus in the mouth. Slightly dry finish with lingering tartness which is out of place. I’ve enjoyed other Ridgeway beers I’ve tried but not this one.

Tasted 12/01/2007. 500ml bottle conditioned ale from Rumble’s, Wellington. Pours a pale gold with a large, airy white head. Slightly hazy, some protein, but the yeast is pretty well packed down. Lolly-like malt, a touch of caramel, old oranges, floral yeast notes, and noble-like resins on the nose. Dry in the mouth, a touch of barley sugar, but pretty well attenuated. Big hop flavour, almost a sour acidity in it’s bitterness. More noble notes - herbal, lemony, spicy. Medium weight, medium-light carbonation. Alcohol warmth in the early aftertaste. Then that big hop bitterness lingers superbly, especially at the sides of the tongue. Very interesting. I like it more as I think about it. Nice to have a big bitter beer that is not all about fruity hops.

Bottle at SBWF 06. Weak citric aroma, not bad. Cloudy orange colour. Nice citrus fruit flavour. Easily drinkable. Probably good for summer.

[Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival] Clear golden. Grassy yeasty nose. Clean, medium sweet and lightly grainy with medium body. Low bitterness. Solid, but unexceptional.

Pale amber with a small head. The aroma was flinty and metallic, becoming malty as it warmed. A little sweetness at first was followed by sourness and a medium bitter finish. The label on this bottle-conditioned ale goes on at length about how hard it is to make an organic beer. It’s quite good, but I’m not sure if it was worth all the trouble.

Bottle. Hazy golden colour. White longlasting head. Flowery hop bitter aroma. Flavor is also bitter with some maltiness. Dry and bitter aftertaste. One of the best organic beers i have had.

Bottled. Slight hazy golden. Herbal nose with grassy hops. A classic bitter with fruity elements and a distinct though not big, bitterness.
