3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
5.8 version: 11.3 fl oz bottle. Poured on 4th March 2014 at home into a Gordon thistle shaped glass just for the hell of it. Actually the brew suited it, or it would have done if the head had bothered to appear.
Dark, dark ruby red to a deep mahogany body with ahead that disappeared before it arrived: I don’t like that!
Mild smokiness to the malty aroma, same in the taste. Some wood notes within the flavours and nose. Hints of coffee and dark chocolate arrive as the beer warms a little which add depth and character to the brew which had been a tad blandish when cooler.
Weaker body than I expected but not watery, just not Porter like either.
Overall not bad, wanted more from it, but content with what I got.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle - Very Dark Brown in colour. Very Malty; lots of peaty smoked malts, oaked, roasted malts, hints of iodine, vanilla, coffee and smoked bacon; Scottish peated whisky malt. Hoppy; slight hops. Smooth, subtle smokiness. Sweetish smokey malty and very dry throughout leading to slight bitterness in the smokey finish. Enjoyed this. Nice Smoked Porter!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours like a brown ale rather than a porter with a foamy head. Lightly sweet with a touch of smoke. Not much else. Pleasant enough.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Sainsbury’s. Dark brown with a hint of indigo. No head, but plentiful carbonation which dissipates quickly. The aroma is of burnt coffee, vanilla, firewood. It is a sweet beer, with some acrid bitterness mixed in. The bitterness fades over the course of the taste profile to give an understated sweet finish. A decent smoke flavour that isn’t over the top. Uncomplicated and refreshing.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bought from local Sainsburys for 84p!!! Big smoky nose, reminds me a wee bit of Islay malt whisky ( the peated malt connection?) nice! Deep mahogany colour, the off white head dies slowly, leaving a thin patchwork. Medium body, the initial flavours are smoky malt and toffee, there are hints of spice creeping in on the finish, these linger awhile, a nice satisfying brew, wishing I?d bought more than one bottle, I bet there?s none left when I go back tomorrow! :(

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Dark oak beer with a decent tan head, which thins and leaves a puddle of scum on the top. Nose is toasty, peaty and nutty with a slight sting of nettles. Instant smokiness in the mouth, with woody, nutty flavours - a depth of flavour with some dark fruits and chocolate powder. Quite dry and a light bitterness to finish. Decent.
