3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from coldbrewky, no freshness info, poured into a pint glass.
Deep amber with tan on the edges, no head what so ever. Nose has nut, light smoke, caramel. Taste is wonderfully complex with the the same as the nose minus the nut, add flower. Mouth is medium bodied and creamy. Yum.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep reddish brown with a small head and spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark fruit and trace of smoke. Taste of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, bit of dark fruit sweetness and smoke. Bit of a malt bitterness and a fairly dry finish. Medium body, creamy with a solid malt feel. Enjoyable beer to relax with.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle and served in a nonic pint glass. The beer has some smoke ,oak, and anise character. Atypical English yeast character as well. Faint dark fruit undertones here and there. Considering the source this is not half bad... Doubt I would buy again however. My first rating from a smartphone, hope it comes put okay

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle from Sainsbury’s, Watford. Poured a very dark brown, with a tan head, which rapidly dissipated to nothing. Aroma of dark malts, vanilla and milk chocolate. Initial flavours of toast, rhubarb and a slight medicinal edge. Cooked fruit, liquorice and straw in the finish. Not much in the way of smoked character and far too sweet for me.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma: Roast is most apparent, but a touch of peat is in there; oak is a little more obvious as the beer warms; chocolate is more implicit than anything. Appearance: Very dark brown/near black pour with a foamy tan head that settles into an ever-present skin. Flavor: Oak is more apparent; vanilla sits at the edge of the roasted malts; chocolate is, again, more implicit; peat finally shows along with a little tea leaf toward the finish. Palate: Light body, oily texture, flat carbonation, lingering finish. Overall: A gently complex beer, really very lovely.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On cask at Max’s Taphouse. Uncloudy mahogany with a small ring of bubbles. Nose is molasses with a hint of char. Taste is similar with some apple and marshmallow notes. Light-medium body is watery, has low carbonation and a good balance. Good but a bit disappointing with the barely detectable level of smoke and oak.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
5.8 version: 11.3 fl oz bottle. Poured on 4th March 2014 at home into a Gordon thistle shaped glass just for the hell of it. Actually the brew suited it, or it would have done if the head had bothered to appear.
Dark, dark ruby red to a deep mahogany body with ahead that disappeared before it arrived: I don’t like that!
Mild smokiness to the malty aroma, same in the taste. Some wood notes within the flavours and nose. Hints of coffee and dark chocolate arrive as the beer warms a little which add depth and character to the brew which had been a tad blandish when cooler.
Weaker body than I expected but not watery, just not Porter like either.
Overall not bad, wanted more from it, but content with what I got.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle - Very Dark Brown in colour. Very Malty; lots of peaty smoked malts, oaked, roasted malts, hints of iodine, vanilla, coffee and smoked bacon; Scottish peated whisky malt. Hoppy; slight hops. Smooth, subtle smokiness. Sweetish smokey malty and very dry throughout leading to slight bitterness in the smokey finish. Enjoyed this. Nice Smoked Porter!
