"Is it just my imagination," queried old Santa, surveying the scene, "or is my Elf only getting worse and worse every year? Whatís next? Seriously Bad Elf, Iíll wager. Mark my words."

This Very Bad Elf is one fine ale - rich, hardy, and flavorful, brewed to an original 1795 Thames Valley recipe, with a very special pale amber malt that is rarely used nowadays, and balanced by a modest addition of English Fuggle aroma hops. íEreís to your elf!

A - 2.5 fingers of off-white head sets on top of a clear copper body. The head is fluffy and retains well. Specks of lacing. S - Steely caramel, fruity yeast, pear, peach, citrus, and mild spice. T - Follows the nose with caramel malt, pear, sweet grapefruit, and nutmeg. Has a sugar cookie and cotton candy sweetness. Grass and citrus hops coat the back of the tongue. Toasted toffee and citrus linger on the finish. M - Full lush body, creamy and smooth. A full flavored and full bodied English Ale. Above average for the style. I would love to have this on cask. The best beer Iíve had from this brewery so far. Serving type: bottle 12-27-2011

Thin head and an astringent harshness. Oily and little in taste rather than a harsh alcoholic taste. Very bad indeed.

Decent seasonal beer. Like other Bad Elf seasonsals, a touch of spice without being overpowering. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. A clear, dark golden beer topped by a dense, finger-thick off-white head. Some lacings. The aroma is mostly on the malty side, with some fruityness in the back. Caramel too. Rather malty flavor, some caramel and notes of licorice, as well as pine cones and citrus hints. Full body, pleasant carbonation. Quite bitter finish. A quite decent one, but Iím not impressed or see myself buying another bottle. 130119
