COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Is it just my imagination," queried old Santa, surveying the scene, "or is my Elf only getting worse and worse every year? What’s next? Seriously Bad Elf, I’ll wager. Mark my words."

This Very Bad Elf is one fine ale - rich, hardy, and flavorful, brewed to an original 1795 Thames Valley recipe, with a very special pale amber malt that is rarely used nowadays, and balanced by a modest addition of English Fuggle aroma hops. ’Ere’s to your elf!

Bottle. A clear, dark golden beer topped by a dense, finger-thick off-white head. Some lacings. The aroma is mostly on the malty side, with some fruityness in the back. Caramel too. Rather malty flavor, some caramel and notes of licorice, as well as pine cones and citrus hints. Full body, pleasant carbonation. Quite bitter finish. A quite decent one, but I’m not impressed or see myself buying another bottle. 130119

translucent gold with a thin but persistent white head. medium bodied with a touch of creaminess, and medium high carbonation.

aroma: dank woodsy hops, grassy bready malt.

taste: grassy and herbal hop bitterness like brussels sprouts, with a mostly stale and musty malt background, but with a subtle and short-lived helles-like biscuity malt sweetness popping up in the finish.

improves a lot as it warms up, as more of the malt character comes through, but maintains a nice blend of intense yet sessional throughout.
