It’s not bad. Nice rounded taste in the mouth, full bodied, toffee malts. Bit sweet for me. Lonely old men drinking alone in the corner of the pub, roll ups, betting slip, pint of Old Bob. Nice bitter finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle - Deep ruby with thin white head, slight carbonation. Aroma of hops, a bit malty, sour fruits on the tongue. A bit oily, with the carbonation nipping the tongue. Not unpleasant.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
500 mL bottle from Tesco into a pint glass at home. Frothy head over a red brown ale. Fruity and lightly citrus aroma. Bitter, dry and a little plumy, with perhaps a little too much fuggle. Its alright but really nothing special.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear glass bottle from BierZwerg. Beautiful amber color under a tiny-bubbled beige head, nose is grassy and airy with fruit. Taste sticky and very fruity malt, light-medium body is firm, light bitterness and some crystal malt feel, darker aftertaste and some moderately musty Fuggles. Fresh with a touch of booze showing, which is a no-no here; this is sweet candy, but tasty!

Lovely dark amber colour, with delicious malty taste with hints of fruit. Thin lacy head, but balanced well. Great aftertaste with just the right amount of bitterness. A very satisfying beer I would happily look for again

2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
In Jan 2007 I wrote this on BA: Clear 500ml bottle from my local Morrison’s. No best by date.
Rear label claims it was brewed by; Ridley’s Brewing, Westgate Street, Bury Saint Edminds, Suffolk.
Looks like an Irish Red in its bottle. Looks even more like an Irish Red in my pint straight sided sleeve glass. The off white, light tan head soon goes to leave a wisp-like nothingness.
If your feet smell and your nose runs, you are built upside down, my nose can’t smell anything here. Not even something nasty.
The taste is OK, a bit fizzy maybe, but barley and hops are in there somewhere, the bottle mentions Fuggles, but I can’t find them from this pint.
Beery aftertaste, dryish and hops, slightly watery for a 5.1% beer.
I am sure Old Bob and myself have met before, in a cask life, this is not as I remember him.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
50cl bottle. Light and clear brown with almost no head. Nose : toffee and chocolate cake, floral honey, little cherry, banana and vanilla. Little clove. Sip : A bit oily with low to medium density. Low carbonation. Nose aromas are well present in mouth. Sweet and long mild bitter coffee and hoppy end. Nice rich taste.
