COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Dolden Sud" is the newest specialty beer from Riedenburger Brauhaus. Selected aroma hops give the beer a fruity and sweet aroma. The body of the fine Riedenburger’s summer barley malt, the bitter hop taste, and the exceptional spicy yeastyness form an luscious alliance of taste.

Decent but not remarkable ipa. Easy bitterness and fruity taste, but not as complex as many great ipas .

Opaque dark orange, off-white lacing foam. Aroma is nice hoppy. Interesting bitter taste for a German beer, first German IPA I ever consumed. Not too strong like Uiltje UPA, but OK still. (Amsterdam 201409)

Bottle from Hopfen & Malz, Berlin. Pour is murky gold with a minimal head, aroma is fruity and sweet. Taste is fruity, pineapple with sweetness on a minimally bitter and balanced finish, light-bodied and thin texture. Nice

330 ml bottle bought at Biorganic’s booth at HKCEC in Wan Chai during HKTDC Food Expo 2014.

Cloudy hazy straw amber-brown colour with no yeast sediments; Three-quarter finger head and off-white foam which fades in 40 seconds. Excellent sticky lacing with near zero carbonation; Sweet aroma of Ale malt, with grapefruit, strong sharp pine, floral, light nectar, sugar, orange zest, yeast, lemon and light grass; Mid to light sweet taste of light Ale malt, with coarse grains, grapefruit zest, sharp pine, resin, wood, molasses, lemon, bitter hops and quite sharp grass; Close to medium body. Slick, quite oily and oozy palate; Mouth feel is throwback-style IPA, with Ale malt being thinned by rough-tasting emmer malt which surprisingly gives the palate some exotic raw edge. Grapefruit is light and zesty, sweetness is light, pine is sharp and resin is quite oozy. No earth but that’s some nice wood feel all around. Pretty nice!... Hoppiness is grapefruit, orange zest, light floral and strong sharp pine in nose. Zesty citrus, sharp pine, resin, wood and lemon in taste. Bitterness is quite timid in light of the supposed 55 IBUs, certainly not up to the classic German Pils level, but enough to compliment the malts for a long, moderate astringent and rough grains finish; Very dry after taste. Piney and light bitter to mouth.

Comments: This is a good fusion IPA with smart use of emmer malt and light hops. The end result, unlike many typical top-heavy IPAs, is light in maltyness with nice raw palate, somewhat light hops with easier bitterness withoput compromising strong pine and resin. Light, refreshing and exotic, this makes me to fall in love with an otherwise tried and tasted style all over again!

Bottle @ Onderbroek, Nijmegen. Straight out of bottle. Nice aroma with the typical IPA hints. Grapefruit, citrus, fruits and hops in aroma/taste. Very smooth one. Nice delicate aftertaste. Great IPA to start with. Not too bitter. Enjoyed!
