On tap at shakesperes, Kalamazoo MI. Dark black pour with a thin layer of light brown head, served in a goblet. Lots of lacing. Little creamy, little smokey like a bonfire. Thick foamy mouth feel, very low carbonation. Well blended flavor, chocolate and a hint of smokey finish, a little dry. Last time I had this at right brain it was woodier/smokier, a lot more character. Hope to try it again.

Poured deep brown with a thin copper head. Aroma was - not surprisingly - meaty. Flavor was more smoke than meat without tipping too much either way. This was bold and savory but still light upon the palate. I kept wanting to find something odd because of the pig content, but my fears went unfounded. This was a very good porter with a very interesting story.

Bottle shared by badnewsbeers. Deep opaque brown-black body, thin tan head. Smoky nose with cocoa; leathery. Mostly cocoa in the body with odd meaty bacon notes and charred malts. Bitter finish.

22oz Bottle. Thanks so much, Sean! Salty, earthy, cocoa powder and brine nose. A robust range of dark, toasty porter notes flow fast and solid. This has the rich, creamy depth of Olfabrikken, but the stalwart brightness of a Smuttynose Robust Porter. After all the porter happenings get their shenanigans out of the way, the brine and smoke of the pig curl in from the dark side of the party and bring mysterious depth and intrigue, rounding out the porter characters like few other porters Iíve ever had. Hard pressed, I could never tell you this had pig in it, but Iíd really dig the rounded breadth that the salt and smoke bring.

Draft at brewpub. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average creamy off-white head that was mostly lasting and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt and smoke aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted smoke sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable complex brew.

Draft at new brewery. The pour is dark with a nice head. The aroma is very roasty with smoke. The taste is pleasantly nice and the smoke flavor is surprisingly good. Guess I see why it won a gold medal.

Draft at GABF. Pours a deep brown/black with an offwhite head. The nose is interesting. Lots of roast, some faint smokey notes and then a big porky note. Also pick up some diacetyl in here as well. On tasting, the slickness (either diacetyl or pork fat) is prominent. Very meaty tasting, beyond the sligh smokiness. Really odd beer and interesting, but not really my cup of tea. Did try it a few times, though, just to be sure.

Made with five smoked pigís heads. No shit. Dark brown. Hammy aroma with salt, maybe a little roast. Sweet, toffeeish, salty and slightly smoky. Batshit crazy beer. The pig and the porter donít really go well together beyond the curiosity value, but that curiosity value is admittedly high.

Sampled at the brewery. Very dark with a dark tan head. The nose is roasted and smoky. The flavor is smoky and has roasted notes. Hearing from the brewer what is in it was an experience. Hog head, ribs, etc. I do smell pork. Odd and totally unique. Not bad at all. I would have liked it more witjout hearing what was in it.
