3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: JUN 23, 2014 Pours a lemon yellow with a white foam head. Has an aroma of honey and bread/wheat. Flavor is subtle wheat and some lemon, with a light touch of bitterness. Not a whole lot of flavor, but this is a decent tasting light beer with a low abv (3.8% according to the can).

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Can. Light yellow with a frothy, white head. Grassy, lemon zest aroma. This same ’zest’ is present in the finish but otherwise its just a balanced light beer. As others have pointed out the can says 3.8% so I’m not sure if the formula has recently changed. Drinkable and refreshing but not what I was expecting.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap: Bright yellow with hints of amber, mild chill haze throughout; mostly translucent & topped with a small layer of healthy, off-white foam. Aroma is mild as cream ales tend to be; notes of light grain, honey, cereal, biscuits, & lightly buttery yeast. Taste is quite smooth; follows the same relaxed notion of the aroma... Biscuit & bread-like malt with notes of grains, oat, cereal, & faintly sweet honey in the finish. A touch of metallic flavor in the aftertaste with crisp yeast & crackers. Certainly quaffable, a nice cream ale when all is said & done.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: JUL 13, 2014 Original Rating 6/06: This is the second sampler from Right Brain that I do not see on the site. Had at the Michigan Tap Room during the Right Brain Tap Takeover night. This is what I would definitely call a gateway beer.. No real hop taste (as with the style). Had a great mouth feel. Texture reminded me of a Boddingtons. Very smooth, creamy beer that I could drink all day. Hopefully there is enough left where I can stop and get a full one tomorrow instead of just the sampler. Usually I like more dynamic flavors, but every once in a while a nice light, great beer is all I need.
Update: 7.13: Found cans of this in the store and quickly bought it. This does not seem the same as when I remembered it. I know this brewery recently changed their Spear Beer formula and am curious on if they changed this one too. It was paler than I remember and not as smooth, creamy, as I recall. Unsure if it was due to tap vs can, or what. Serviceable non-cpmplex beer...but not as good as I remember.
