Appearance: Pours a clear, yellow-hued body with a short-lived, very thin, white head.

Smell: Unimpressive, not too particularly appealing aroma of sugar laced apple, grape juice.

Taste: Candied sweetness, though little flavor of malts present. White grape, apple fruitiness. Minor spiciness. Transient alcohol quality. Low gum hint. Fairly sweet on the finish with a final touch of fruit.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Just a notch above medium carbonation.

Overall: A bit too basic, a bit too sweet. PIG. OUT.

330 ml bottle. BB 05/11/14. From saveur-biere.com.
The advent calendar gave this one today. Lively golden colour with a small white head. Sweet bread, malt, mild toffee and hints of bitterness in the aroma. The flavour is mild yeast, mild sweetness, malt and some alcohol. Drinkable but not that interesting. 8.5% rather well hidden.

Purchased in a 22 and pour into a stein. I know that’s not correct for a BSA but that’s all my parents had available at their house. You work with what you’ve got. A very rich, hazy golden color. You can tell by the activity in the glass that it is high on the carbonation. Average head, leaving minimal lace and I drank thru it. The aroma was decent, very apparent smells of sweet fruitiness and coriander? I believe. I actually really enjoy the taste of this ale and it’s stronger notes of alcohol and yeast. Little to none on the hop flavor and bitterness. The spiky carbonated feel was nice as well. High on the carbonation. I realize from tasting and reading that there are many other superior BSAs to this one but I continue to buy it on occasion. It works for me.

75cl bottle into tulip. Lille. Appearance: cloudy orange/golden with weak head. Aroma: wheat, yeast, sour Taste: dry, with a sour finish. Palate: dry upfront, like brut champagne thin texture. Overall: interesting beer. More sour than I prefer.

Appearance with golden color and high and persistent head of foam. Hoppy aroma (floral). On the palate: strong, complex, hoppy and bitter with strong alcohol and well inserted (8.5%) Very similar to Duvel. I recommend!

Tap at Shorty’s. Sweet and fruity aroma with some grain. Taste is syrupy sweet with an odd fruitiness and some noticeable alcohol in the finish. Drinkable but not a fan.

Found this 50cl can in a supermarket in Ste Maxime on the South of France: cracked it at my mates holiday villa on 17 Sep 2013. Poured into two tumblers: golden, bright and light, small white head, very lager/pilsner like in appearance. The nose was both yeasty and hoppy, the taste more grainy in nature. Semi-dry feel to the brew and the alcohol wasn’t too pronounced. I thought it would be sweeter, but compared to the Amsterdam Navigation and Kronenbourg 7.2 Blonde it wasn’t sweet at all (Ant and I were having a heavy can tasting session).

Not so exiting as I have thought but quite nice and great to drink as any Belgian beer is.
