brownaler (375), Topsail Beach, North Carolina, USA Jun 30, 2007 Bottle poured into shaker. Strong and sharp cascade aroma with a little butter. A slight tinge of bitterness in the front with a more pronounced rye breadiness in the finish. Mouthfeel is very chewy Thanks, kujo9!
hopdog (4645), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 13, 2008 22oz bottle shared courtesy of TomDecapolis. Poured a medium and slighlty hazy golden color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, floral green hops, pine, caramel, and toasty. Tastes of floral, earhthy, toasted caramel, citrus, and some pine. egajdzis (3014), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 13, 2008 Poured an amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, pine, caramel malts, and some toast. Taste of caramel, resiny pine, citrus fruits, a bit of tobacco, toasted malts, and finishing quite hoppy. I would have guessed this was an IPA rather than APA as well. TomDecapolis (2474), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 17, 2008 On tap at the Brew Kettle. Pours a lightly hazy golden/orange with a medium creamy off white head that laced. Aroma was a load of fresh American hops, citrus, a lot of grapefruit and orange with a nice touch of caramel malt. Flavor was also a load of the 4 C hops, lightly toasted malt, floral, pine and mixed citrus. Glouglouburp (1999), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 15, 2008 In short: An intensely hopped IPA trying to pass as a session Pale Ale. Very tasty.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear dark golden body with a medium white head
In long: Foresty/coniferous nose. Toasted malts with smooth caramel balanced by a lots of tasty coniferous and citrusy hops. Hops flavour is about 2/3 coniferous, 1/3 citrus fruits. The body was soft, the carbonation was medium. The pleasant over-the-top hopping was a lot more akin to an IPA than a PA. A lot more satisfying than the last 4 Cs I had, junior college year report card, too much beer not enough studies. kramer (1888), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA May 10, 2008 22 oz bottle, via crizay. Pours a copper body with a slight yeast haze under a thin off-white head that quickly faded. Nice bright citrusy hoppy nose with some candy-sweet malt. The flavor is heavily bitter, and maybe a bit harshly so. Well beyond the average APA for sure. A little bit of an ashtray sharpness on the finish. Toasted bready malt base. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slight resiny stickiness and moderate fizzy carbonation. Lingering leafy finish. Overall, plenty of hops in here, but I just don’t think that it was the right mix of them.
