3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Nice dark red with a one finger white head. Nose is almost like a belgian beer, some prunes, dark fruits, chocolate, caramel, and maybe some slight alcohol. Nice mouthfeel, good carbonation. On the tongue i get hit by some belgian notes again. Dark fruits, chocolate, some roastyness and a slight alcohol kick (its 10% ABV after all). A good beer, but nothing to rave about.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
0.33l bottle. This is a crystal clear deep dark amber-ruby one with a disappointingly fainting quickly sidesticking little bubbly beige top. On the nose it’s dark-malty sweet with caramel and frosting sugar mainly. Also light vanilla and woody-sour tones. Not the normal kind of woody sourness, but a sweet sourness with, yeah, honey. Honey and traces of alcohol. Not horrible at all. The taste has that pilsner-like Ringnes sweetness that I remember from my youth. Impressive, but it’s actually not that hard to notice. Some honey traces with a soft malty note. Light salty finish with traces of licorice. Well, I have to say that I had hoped for something a bit, eh, more than this honestly, but by all mean, not a bad brew from the giant Ringnes. If anything, the alcohol is really well hidden! 02.11.2012

Flaske 0,33l fra Vinmonopolet, Tromsø Langnes. Drukket hjemme 25 Nov 12.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
33 cl bottle at home. Bought 2 the second one is in storage until next year. That is not because this is a bad beer, but because my spider senses tell me it will be better next year. It is a really good doppelbokk, in fact, one of the most interesting I ever had. The normal earthy, mossy aroma with a hint of mango and peaches. Taste is malty, caramel, dried fruit and black pepper, with the hops following closely to make it very drinkable. Best Ringnes beer I had to date.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, shared with friends during a tasting of Norwegian Christmas beers. Deep, dark amber coloured body. Tan-coloured head with a solid stand and that left spotty lacing to the glassware. Almond, herbs and fruity hops to the nose. Spiced fruity taste with apricot, plums, dark honey and almond. Bitter malt-fruity notes with warming alcohol to the ending. Oak dry mouthfeel.Well bodied. Maybe even better after a few years in the cellar (koseklassen, juleøltesten, Tromsø 30.11.2012).
