3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, shared with friends during a tasting of Norwegian Christmas beers. Deep, dark amber coloured body. Tan-coloured head with a solid stand and that left spotty lacing to the glassware. Almond, herbs and fruity hops to the nose. Spiced fruity taste with apricot, plums, dark honey and almond. Bitter malt-fruity notes with warming alcohol to the ending. Oak dry mouthfeel.Well bodied. Maybe even better after a few years in the cellar (koseklassen, juleøltesten, Tromsø 30.11.2012).

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Excellent aromas of oranges, prunes, candied sitrus peel, caramell, toast and ginger. I love the aromas. The flavour of the hops are less well integrated than the aromas, but I believe that’ll improve with age. On a side not it’s a beautifully amber beer with a nice, thick head. It’s really well made.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330 ml bottle. Crystal clear dark copper colour. Small to medium off-white head. Heather honey aroma with herbal notes. Body is surprisingly light and the beer drinks well. Quite bitter and refreshing. Delicate flavours at first, but gets more complex as it warms up. Oranges, black pepper, coffee and spicy hops. Very nice.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sweet, a bit tired flavour. Some citrus flavour, too. A hint of barnyard which should not be there. The honey is quite prominent.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, shared with and courtesy of Foffern - thanks bro! :-) I’m very excited to taste the most unlikely collaboration in a while: macro lager giant Ringnes of Norway joining forces with Brooklyn Brewery’s brewmaster Garrett Oliver to produce a spiced-out doppelbock - what are the odds! :-D Pours a dark nut brown clear body with a small off-white head. Nose is oranges, caramel, honey, malty syrupy tones, hints of bubble gum and fusel alcohols. Taste is overripe plums, alcohol, prunes, caramel, herbs, oranges, hints of pepper and citric peel. Dry, woody mouthfeel. Interesting, and a real surprise. Too young though, I suspect this will be much better closer to next Christmas, and as such I’m keeping a bottle in my cellar for a re-visit a a later point.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours clear dark amber with a big creamy white head. Aroma of sweet malts, mashout. Taste is moderate sweet, well balanced with hops, herbal and spicy, Ringnes is as close as i get to the devil, so this one is a hell of a drink. No pun intended.
