Bottle from Tulla Fischer. Pours a dark golden caramellike liquid with a tiny white head that clings to the glass. Caramelmalts and soon-to-be-garbage bananas in the nose. Fullbodied, almost chewable texture. Taste brings out alot of sweetness from the malts and honey, aswell as the fruityness I got from the aroma. Very enjoyable and definately the best beer from Ringnes so far.

Cunningham (4632) - Halden, NORWAY - JAN 15, 2014
Appearance: Clear nutty brownish color with a off white head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Balanced fruity and nutty.
Palate: Medium to full body. A bit sweet and a mild bitterness. Average to soft carbonation. Oily texture.
Taste: Balanced fruity, malty, toffee and some spicy notes. Not to much alcohol in the flavor.
Overall impression: Decent, powerful and tasty beer.
Personal stats: Bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika in Oslo, Norway.

Small creamy shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet fruity, caramel malts, grass, coffee, citrus peel, burnt caramel, spices, butterscotch, alcohol, honey, chocolate. Taste is kind of harsh and a little metallic, caramel malts, grass, butterscotch, citrus peel, spices, alcohol, cocoa, honey, coffee. Medium to longlastig bitterness, thin body. Disappointing!

330ml Bottle (Thanks Cunningham) - Copper with a small head and a slight haze. Dried fruit, marzipan, spicy malt and a hint of leather in the aroma. Fruity, malty, warming and rich taste with fruitcake, leather, blackcurrant, marzipan and a long fruity and slightly sweet finish.

Bottle, 2012 vintage. It pours a clear, deep copper colored body and a dense, finger-thick off-white head. Lacings occur. The aroma is rich, but not as dark as the Julebokk its recipe is based upon. Itís more on the dried fruits side than the roasted, burnt caramel side. Also, thereís quite a lot of heather honey going on, and a touch of alcohol. Not much alcohol actually, considering it weighs in at 10% ABV, but itís more evident in the flavor, especially in the end. In the far back thereís some citrusy hints, but Iíd expect more aroma and flavor from the coffee added. Strangely enough the Julebokk, brewed without coffee, tastes more of it than this beer. Itís quite sweet and warming on the palate, full-bodied and quite pleasantly carbonated, and finally in the finish I find something I donít like, a metallic touch. The flavor doesnít have as much heather as the aroma, but thereís sure honey going on. Itís quite bitter too, the hops play their part well even though the amount of bittering hops used doesnít seem to be very high. Toffee and prunes too. Towards the very end it sort of dries up, feeling less sweetish than the Julebokk, the amount of bittering hops used probably plays a significant part it seems. Well, overall this is most definitely a tasteful and pleasant beer, pity it seems to be a one-off, but we can certainly hope for more experiments from this Carlsberg subsidiary. By the way, the 4.0 score I give is with some doubt. In my opinion this beer isnít as good as Julebokk, but itís pretty close. 131031

berlinoise2go (620) - NORWAY - AUG 24, 2013
Bottle (33cl) from Vinmonopolet (Storo), Oslo. Half-inch light beige head, somewhat sticky, leaves some lacing. Clear mahogany colour. Sweet aroma with dried figs, malt, caramel, rum, hint of banana. Full body, lively carbonation. Taste is sweet, well balanced by a fruity acidity, and finishes with a modest, woody bitterness.

33cl bottle at The Dubliner. It poured a dark amber colour with a medium big white head. Aroma is sweet and laden with malts, caramel, hazelnuts and aomw hints of honey. Flavour is also sweet, but balanced. Alcohol is very subtle. Notes of caramel, malts, nuts and chocolate. Some fruits. Medium long aftertaste. A very nice beer indeed and the 10% ABV is barely noticable. Kudos to Ringnes for doing this collaboration with Garreth Oliver from Brooklyn Brewery.

Bottle, shared march 30th 2013. First, credits to Ringnes for trying something out of the (for them) ordinary. Next time, maybe weíll even get a top-fermented beer? This one is dark amber colored with a low offwhite head. Aroma of caramel, honey and citrus hops (!). Taste is sweet, lots of malt, dried fruit and nuts, with a rather hoppy palate (again, for this brewery). The beer is actually quite good, and would never have guessed Ringnes in a blindfold test. I guess having Garreth Oliver over for a co brew wasnít a bad idea.
