3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
0.33l bottle. A clear deep brownish beer with a small quickly fading bubbly and sidesticking off-white head. The aroma is light burned with lots of caramel and some licorice. Average carbo levels and a slick to oily mouthfeel. Spicy pepperish flavors mixed with malty sweetness and some alcohol tones in the background. Surprisingly balanced and ends with a sticky licorice aftertaste. Quite good this puppy.

Pours very dark, almost black in glass, thick tanned head. Smells mostly of roasted malts and caramel, also tiny hints of wet dog. Pretty one dimentional aroma. Taste is super malty, tons of sweetness. Oily palate. Nice bitter finish.

Dark brown, almost black, body with a thin beige head. Aroma of mocca, roasted malt, caramel, licorice and coffee. Good stuff! Sweet taste with a spicy aftertaste. The alcohol is well integrated in the taste. A very good juleøl!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours almost black. Very "full" taste and aroma. Quite similar to a traditional, home-made "tomtebrygg". Good, but not that much character.

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours black colour with brown foam. Caramel, malts and raisins in the aroma. Medium sweetness in the taste with the dry fruits notes balanced with malts and maybe a note of chocolate. Medium to full body, thick feel, soft carbonation and long finish. It really hangs there. Good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
2010 Vintage. Very dark, almost black, red edges. Sweet berry smell. Burnt aroma, raisins, leather, nuts, some general dark fruitts, generally christmas-y in a good way, if one can say that. Hints of medicine and toffee. Sweet, but not too much. Low carbonation, very pleasant mouthfeel, quite thick. Well balanced, nice bitter aftertaste.
