Very mediocre. Nothing exciting. Easy to drink and the carbonation is medium. Watery and bread like taste.

Clear light copper, small off-white head. Aroma is malty and slightly herbal. Flavours of light malt, a little straw, light citrus, slightly spicy. Mild to moderate bitter finish. Light to medium bodied. Pleasant enough.

Pours light copper with a small off white top. Aroma is caramel, earthy hop and a small metallic finish. Taste is mainly earthy hops with caramel sweetness from the malt but there is a weird metallic hint over all.

Pours clear pale amber with a fat finger of light tan head diminishing rapidly to a thin skim, moderate lacing. (3/5) Nose is biscuity pale and caramel malt, very faint apples and grassy hops. (5/10) Taste starts mild malty sweet, gives way to moderately strong bitter. (6/10) Medium to full body, prickly to moderate carbonation, lingering bitter astringent finish. (4/5) Not quite the bland Marston brew I feared it would be, to be frank. Although it initially smells like a plain old typical ESB or EPA, the taste is a little surprising: a fairly well-balanced mild malty sweetness gives way fairly quickly to a little more enthusiastic bitter than I expected. The finish is bitter and astringent, with green apple tone making it a little puckering. All in all, not unpleasant, and I’d have another. (12/20)

Bottle, shared with TylerDurden. Dull gold with an average white head. Grassy aroma and hop profile on lightly sweet biscuit malt. Pithy dry bitterness doesn’t overwhelm. Not bad.

Bottle pulled from over priced & underwhelming 6 pack sampler at the LCBO. Not as bad as I feared. Not as musty & grumpy as the style sometimes is. There’s an interesting green apple note in the background that saves this from being banal. Enjoyable enough.

Part of a 6 pack of Marston PLC beers. Pours a golden-red colour with a thin off-white coloured head. The aroma is light caramel, weak floral hops, and grass. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is bitter hops, grains, and a weak fruit tone. Not a bad beer at all.

500 mL bottle. Slightly hazy 910 orange with just a ring of head. Fairly typical malty, syrupy aroma. Typical of a lower class bitter, that is. Almost smells as though there may be corn involved. Taste is a little better, as there is a hint of fruit near the end, but it is lacking in any other redeeming qualities. I hope that this was better before Marston took over Ringwood.
