Orange toffee color. Small off-white head. Little lacing. Nice mixture of hops and malt. Orange marmalade. Taste is a creamy caramel and malt. Some dark fruits. Some sweetness but balanced well with a slight bitterness. Good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Metro Wines via my Dad. Chestnut ale. Very mild aroma of slight malt. I like the bitterness and crispness with slight fizz at the end. The taste is old school bitter and one-dimensional bitterness.

the aroma is caramel and fruity, with notes of apple and lollypops... the taste is malty with rough hoppy bitterness... aftertaste is hoppy and dry...

Bottle from Booth’s Knutsford. Thoroughly solid English ale. caramel, roasty nose, Balance, balance, balance on the mouth and taste with a light, slightly spicy but long finish. Very drinkable.

a great colour with a lovely aroma. Great taste and easy to drink. I would like to try the other beers from this brewery based on this one.

Nice gentle beer. Pours a deep copper colour, mild carbonation and lasting white head. Caramel aroma and malty finish but hops not too prominent. Drinkable beer but could do with a bit of bite.

500ml bottle of the post July 2013 version. Which according to the label is now a "full of flavour craft ale". Hasn’t got the depth of the old 5.6% abv. I guess that’s progress.

Bottle, 5.6% ABV. Pours clear full amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of malt, hops and fruit (gooseberry?). Sweetish, malty flavour, with caramel notes and distinct touches of fruit. Regular but rather mild hoppy notes. Medium to thick body. Good mouthfeel. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Decent.

500ml bottle recieved as a Christmas present. Pours a clear amber with a thin head. Malty aroma but not much else. Taste is malt and nutty with a medium bitter finish. A little watery but okay I suppose.

Bottle from Sainsburys (5.1%) nutty round malty nose and full flavour with a sturdy body. Well balanced with a hearty metallic finish. Very quaffable indeed and a good pairing for a meaty flavoursome dish!
