(American version brewed in Maine) medium amber/light copper with good white head. Hops/spice aromas. Complex flavors--spice, slightly sweet malt, hints of banana. Mild hops finish. Nice lace on glass as noted.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very strong woody aroma and texture, somehow. Not quite grainy like a fine piece of oak but I imagined it to be. The ringwood yeast gave it a ciderish and musty bent. Tasted a bit of white wine and blue cheese (creamy and moldy aspects anyway, not necessarily sour flavors). Almost unbalanced acidity.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer tried to Thump me, Old Thumper Style, but I don’t feel violated. What does that mean? I don’t know either?
This seems to be a solid EPA, although it is not pale in appearance, rather a copper / amber. This beer has buttery, caramel suggestions in the aroma and flavor, and finishes dry and slightly hoppy. I however don’t find many fruity notes in Old Thumper’s flavor & taste, yet I find a relatively nutty presence. Overall, a Respectable Beer; a great deal better than it’s lesser counterpart Shipyard Export Ale.

This was very mellow...not as hoppy as I thought it would be but still nice drink to have when weather gets a little cooler.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dry, but malty. Tastes a lot like Bass Ale. Bass isn't a bad beer, but you expect a little more from a New England micro.

Cask conditionned at the Florida Tap Room in Ft. Lauderdale. Has great balance, some low esters and a tremendously rich personality. It is a very good pale ale/bitter. It has a slightly thin body but a rich malty hoppy flavour.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Crisp/dry hops aroma. White cream colored head that stays around for a few minutes.
orange-red and a bit fizzy appearance.
Taste is dry but has a bitter malt taste accompanying the hops. Finishes with a chewy/biscuity malt flavor. Medium bodied. Has a bitter/dry shot initially that is a bit uneven at the start, but combines well with a more subtle malt to produce a nice finish. As it warms more hops apparent in the body, producing a piney taste. Too uneven up front and carbonation is a bit too high.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Much heavier in body than what I was looking for in hot weather in Portland. Much maltier than expected, with a very full body. Some hoppiness toward the middle. Nice white head that diminished very quickly. I'll bet that this is favorite around Portland in the autumn.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
This beer pours an amber color with a creamy white head and moderate lacing on the glass. The aroma is sweet and slightly fruity. The taste is very full of caramel and pretty smooth. There is a slight hint of alcohol in the flavor and also a little fruit is also evident. The taste has a very warm feel even when the beer is cold. I would recommend trying this one.
