Fine colour, nice aroma. Nice balance of hops. Fine beer, but not too good.

Zarkam (428) - Helsinki, FINLAND - SEP 26, 2014
500ml bottle labelled as Port Light from a small shop somewhere near the Latvian border. Clear deep gold colour, small mostly lasting frothy white head, fair lacing. Somewhat earthy moderately malty aroma of grain and hay with light herbal hops and a bit of butterscotch. Taste is initially moderately sweet and slightly acidic, turning into a lightly bitter and moderately sweet finish with an astringent feel. Light to medium body with slick mouthfeel and average carbonation. Not insanely awful if not delicious, kind of like a supermarket lager with a bit of yeast esters that weren’t unpleasant. Not in the tasty realm though because of the somewhat excessive sweetness.

larsga (6218) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 10, 2014
Medium offwhite head. Clear coppery body with light carbonation. Sugary mealy fruity aroma with buttery malty notes. Dry-sweet papery mealy floral taste with peppery notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish floral herbal aftertaste with papery rubbery buttery mint notes. Improves as it warms, revealing fruity minty notes. Not bad, but a bit boring. (0.5l bottle from Bambalyne, Vilnius.)

The head is medium, the body dark-yellow. It smells malty, metal. The taste is malty, light, less hoppy, bit bitter. 10/11/10/9/10/9

Port Light. 1L plastic bottle from Laagri Maksimarket. Golden color, medium white head. Grainy aroma with herbal tones. Nostalgic taste of soviet era beer. Little bit unclean malty taste, some hops in finish. Quite bitter notes in aftertaste.

Draught as Port Light. Clear deep golden color. Small white head, stays. Sour, puke in aroma. Filthy, unclean taste. Watery, somewhat bitter. Nothing special, pain to drink.

(Rating #4221)

Bottle (Bambalyne, Vilnius) (5+:3-:5:3:10=2.6)
Pale and clear, persistent small head. Almost savoury and porridgy, maybe buckwheat. Smooth palate, not too thin for its strength. Not big, but very grain oriented taste, a touch porridgy again. Simple and harmless, no flaws, and does a beer’s job adequately.

SilkTork (5218) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, Kent, ENGLAND - MAR 12, 2012
500ml bottle from local East European shop. Deep shiny gold colour or faint corn juice colour depending on the light. Dry, thin and watery with some citric and metal notes. Lack of fragrance, and lack of attractive flavour, but not altogether disgusting, and easy to drink. This is not a beer to reward beer hunters, but is a simple, easy drinking thirst quencher which has some soft lemony citric notes. There’s a rustic earthiness about it which lifts the interest and gives it character, so it’s not a complete loss, but it’s not one to select if given a choice.

MartinT (7860) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 11, 2012
My Bottom Line:
Lightly honeyed malts evolve into mild citrusy tartness, as faint herbal hops attempt to create diversity.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the hazy straw blond.
-There is some rusticity in here, but it is very mild and forgettable.
-Watery passages increase drinkability... but also boredom.
-There is nothing wrong with this 100% malt brew aside from the fact that it is not memorable by any means.

On tap at the brewery restaurant.

Bottle. Golden with a thin foam. Aromas are corn and caramel with traces of citrus and honey. Flavours are sweet grain and caramel with soapy hops. Dry and carbonated on the finish. Mediocre.
