3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ Rip Current. Clear amber-red pour with a khaki head. Aromas of toasted bread, caramel, and red grape. Floral and earthy hops. Very bready, malty nose. Pleasant sweetness to the taste. Dominated by bread and toast, with a healthy dose of caramel. Some grape/raisin and a touch of plum, as well. Fairly mild floral hop character. Subtle bitterness.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a reddish brown with a small tan head with some lacing. Aroma is of sweet malts, dark fruits, caramel, vanilla, toasted malts, and some apple juice. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma with the addition of some mild grassy hops. Has a medium body with a slightly watery mouthfeel and a slightly dry, slightly bitter, medium finish. Overall, a tasty Altbier that seems pretty classic for the style.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A rare rainy day in L.A. and lo and behold a rare Alt in L.A. as well! My first beer from Rip Current and I enjoyed it while shopping at Sunset Beer. Easy to drink. Aroma is mild. The taste is big and malty with a bit of a bite to it. Really a showcase for grain.
