This 5.1% beer is based upon our German Hefeweizen, but is a touch lighter in body and features up front aroma and flavors from the extensive dry hopping with west coast hops. The initial flavors are very floral with some citrus notes leading to a soft mid palate with noticeable banana notes. The finish brings out the clove-like phenols that are typical in a German Hefeweizen. Hop lovers will enjoy this sessionable San Diego version of the traditional German style.

[Tap] Draught at City Beer in San Fran. Hazy yellow pour with a soapy white head. Aromas of citrus, light clove and banana. Taste is of wheat malt, cracker, light weizen yeast notes and some grass. Mild and clean, but nothing to write home about.

On draft at Tap 25. It pours a clear gold color with a frothy, off white head. The aroma has pineapple and peaches. A little floral. Very hop forward. The flavor has more floral hop character with strong bitterness. Heavy grapefruit as well. Light malty body. No hefe yeast character at all. Weird. I would’ve thought this was a Session IPA. Maybe a touch too bitter even for that style.

Tap@ Rip. Hazy golden color with off white foam. Citrus, fruity hoppy, banana, clove aromas. Smooth wheaty mouthfeel. Nice tart pale wheat malty base brew with citrusy hoppage, clove, and banana sweetness--- tasty hybrid.

Backlog. On tap from a long time ago. Pours with a deeper golden hued body and an off-white head. Aromas are dominated by isoamyl acetate, HUGEly ester with lower levels of 4VG (clove). Minimal hop character, possibly a bit of citrus. Bready. Flavors are again dominated by banana with some malt. low bitterness, minimal hop character.

On tap at Rip Current. Hazy golden pour, with a white head. Light banana esters, wheat, a bit fruity, clove, and sweetness. Ok, I’m not a big hefe fan.

Tap at Rip Current thanks to womencantsail and t0rin0. Pours full haze golden. Good foam. Nose is peach, sage, apple, some soap. Taste is peach, sage, more soap in the background. Palate is too soapy for me but lemon and sage continue to pile on. Interesting.

Pours a hazy golden yellow, with tons of carbonation clinging to the sides of the glass. Aroma features hops, clove, and bananas. Definite clove and banana taste. Slightly aqueous. Aftertaste is slightly sour with the banana hanging around for good measure. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
