10/14/2014. On tap. Amber with a white head. Malt, caramel and tropical fruit aromas. Bitter hops, caramel, malt forward DIPA. Nice and not over done.

Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a crystal clear deep gold body that supports a near white head of foam. The aroma is resiny and spicy wood, grapefruit, malt sweetened lemon notes and then resiny pine off in the background. This is a big flavorful brew that has a strong lemon and grapefruit and herbal hop rip currents. Another sip brings up rich and vibrant flavors like sweet malts being crushed by firm resiny pine hops, grapefruit citrus hop bitterness and then a little bit of tangelo hop flavor. Toward the finish a little bit of lemon bubbles to the surface as well as thin notes of spicy, herbal and faintly garlic notes that show up amid the big yet fading resiny pine hops and citrusy grapefruit. Wow! This is money. (wow, am I even drinking the same beer as the other raters?)

Aroma could use a little more ump... Though flavors make up for the aroma. Mild nose of peach and citrus, mixed with mild herbals and pine. Flavors of bitter grapefruit and pine dominate the palate. Good length. Nice sweet, caramel malt balance. Good stuff. Would drink again if I saw it locally. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

UPDATED: JUN 3, 2013 Tap @ brewery. Generic bright amber pour with an off-white head. Aroma is floral hops and pine and a muted malt backbone. Taste is balanced pine and bitterness and a loose collection of malt and biscuit. Even but loose mouthfeel. Nice enough beer but a more defined mouthfeel would improve this greatly.

This is not your starter beer, nor is it for the low IBU Palate. Very tasty, full of flavor. Overall enjoyed it a lot.

On tap at Tornado. Pours a amber orange with a one finger off white head. Aroma is of citrus (grapefruit and orange mainly) pine, tropical fruits/apricot, sweet malts, and a little alcohol. Has a medium body with a slightly watery mouthfeel and a semi dry, semi bitter finish. Overall, a decently tasty but very drinkable DIPA.

Slightly cloudy orange pour with a white head. Really dank grapefruit and pine hop aroma. Some tropical fruit, a hint of alcohol, orange peel, and light grass. Sweet caramel malt, too. The flavor is a bit on the sweet side, somewhat boozy, and lots of pine, grapefruit, and orange peel. More grass than expected and a light bitterness.

I had this beer on tap in the wonderful metropolis of San Marcos, CA. This pour was a nicely balanced IPA.
