Pours mahogany tinged black into an English pint. Tan conglomerate head with medium retention pancakes leaving spider lacing. Sweet smoked resin aromas. Sharp with dark caramel and licorice upfront turn to mild smoke before the lasting bacon and resin finish.

From the 650 ml. bottle marked Batch 187. Lovely looking black pour with a foamy tan head that slowly settles down. Kind of well carbonated. The aroma has a definite earthy and floral hop note with a sweet roasted malt and molasses note. The body is in the medium to heavy range. The taste tends to emphasized the earthy and resiny hops over the malts but it is nice balance.

Pours black with a creamy head. Nice fruity hop presence on the nose. Good amount of carbonation with a slightly dry finish. Overall a great balance of malt and hop flavors make this one worth a taste! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

My Bottom Line:
Roasted coffee beans, earthen resins and citrus fruit converge atop almonds and dark chocolate, leading to a coniferous finish.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sticky head of foam tops the darkness.
-The flavor profile is balanced and quite intense for a 5% brew.
-This is like a Stout straddling a Black IPA.
-Carbonation levels are too high for this type of flavor profile, imho.
-This brew is beautifully aromatic.

Picked up a 22 oz bottle while I was in Maine. Pours black with a tan head. Smokey malt and citrus aroma. Chocolate roasted malt flavor with hoppy citrus finish.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown, almost black, body with a nice one finger tight bubbled brown head. The nose is bright citrusy hops over a chocolate malt and lightly roasty Porter like malt base. Some lighter notes of coffee and dark chocolate. The flavor is really well balanced by the bright citrusy hops and a slightly sweet chocolate malt backbone. Finishes with a touch of roast, licorice, burnt caramel, and citrus fruit. Medium bodied with a slight resiny clingy finish. Perfect soft fizzy carbonation level. Really great hoppy Porter/Black IPA, whatever you want to call it. Very nice, these guys are doing some really great stuff.

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a lacy, tan head. Aroma of dark malts, a little caramel and smokiness, dough, plus a good amount floral/lightly citrusy hops. Flavor about the same, with a hints of smoke and a good hop finish. Average texture. Not a bad beer.

Bottle at Sander’s place, NYC. Pours dark brown with a tight, tan cream head. Loads of torched pine in the nose, some roasty malts. Light sweet flavor with dirty, roasty malts, earth, bitter cocoa, dark line. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Some burnt piney resins to finish, bit of heavy ash, dark malts, earth. Good.

22oz bottle thanks to Argo: Pours to a very dark brown, near black, colored body with a large tan colored head. Aroma is smoky with notes of roasted malt, some moderate citrus grapefruit/pine hops and mild plums. Taste shows more smoke than expected, not light but pretty smoky (in a nice way!), then the citrus/grapefruit hops show themselves and meld with the roasted malt flavors. Finishes with extended roasted malt and hop notes. Medium bodied, higher than expected carbonation. Very nice sipping beer overall.
