Tap Cornerstone Barre VT - Orange copper in color. Dank pine sap aroma with notes of gumminess. Smooth coating mouthfeel. Great big hop bitterness without the overpowering astringency in some diPAs. Finishes with chewy wet fresh hop dankness.

Bright orange pour from draft at Pai Men in Portland Maine. White sticky head. Big nose of tropical happiness. Orange, apricot, and maybe a tad vanilla. Hoppy and bitter. Delicious.

Draught at Lulu’s, 3/28/15
Nearly as red as the label, and a bit deeper with garnet and magenta hues and a small, beige head that shows moderate retention. Clarity is high, with just a touch of haze to it.
Very fruity in the nose; not just citrus but cherries, berries and apples even. Quite complex and though there is some thought of pine, it’s much more citrus-influenced than it is heavily acidic and resinous. Crystal malts, to my dismay, are here adding that "hard" iced tea-like note, with vanilla and light caramel sweetness certainly balancing things. Floral, green and even mint-like aromas emerge with warming. Lots of hop complexity, which is appreciated with little/no alcohol or flaws in the nose.
Both sweet and only moderately bitter in flavor, it almost comes off as more of a Double Pale ale. Crystal malts add that hard candy-like texture, though caramel sugars help soften things and a low but mostly tight carbonation concentrates the wonderfully fruity hoppiness. Toasted malt, strawberry and grapefruit all swirl about on the end, easing some of the sweetness, but it’s still probably a bit too malt forward. I do like the lack of resin here, but the malt bill needs a bit of work and it could use a bit more good old bitterness.

This stands as my current favorite Imperial IPA. The hops are balanced and there’s an excellent crisp ending.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bought at the brewery into a rising tide glass, classic. Pours a golden glazed honey amber orange, looks great. Head is solid, a few inches, cloud white, simmers down to a nice full coating over the liquid and hovers like lillypads, lacing is there and visible, clinging to random areas. nice. Aroma of phat tropical juices, citrus, the like. Juicy hop presence, just how i like my dipas, fells like a can squees the hops myself, just a wonderful crisp and clean dipa from Maine. excellence all around. abv is generous and well recieved but not intruding. fits the bill, just awesome. Still feeling the phat citrus hop bomb that went off in my mouth. hops on hops in deed.

(Rating #6158)

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line:
Caramel and hop resins mesh in this portly and sweet example of the style.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the hazy pale amber.
-Coniferous bitterness isn’t too prominent, surprisingly.
-Mouthfeel is soft and cuddly.
-This goes against the trend style-wise, so kudos to them for thinking outside the box.
-This was too sweet for my personal preference in Double IPAs.
On tap at Vermont Tap House.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle poured an amber color with a thin coating of white head. Aroma has pines, mild tropical fruits, resins, and a bit of caramel. Mouth feel is solid and the carbonation good. Flavor has a big pine punch, resins, low side bitterness, a bit of malty sweetness, and a lingering finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours almost clear amber with a beige mostly lasting creamy head that leaves good lacing. aroma of citrus, tropical fruits and spruce. Lightly bitter taste in a light to medium body, average carbo that lingers on the sides of my tongue and a lightly bitter finish of medium duration.
