COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial IPA, Double IPA, XIPA, IIPA. Whatever you want to call it. Calcutta Cutter is our homage to hops. Lots of hops. Early hops. Late hops. Very late hops. Dry hops. Then we condition the bottles in a bed of hops. Well, maybe not that last bit, but you get the idea. We let the lupulin shine !

Tap Cornerstone Barre VT - Orange copper in color. Dank pine sap aroma with notes of gumminess. Smooth coating mouthfeel. Great big hop bitterness without the overpowering astringency in some diPAs. Finishes with chewy wet fresh hop dankness.

Draft@ The Grill next Door for $7.00. As the bartender set down the tulip I could smell floral hops and pine before I raised the glass to my face. Some candy sugar there as well. The flavor is dead on the aroma with a pronouced pine needle in the finish. Bready malt shows hints of toffee to help balance the hops. Bitterness is not over whelming, subtle pine. Really easy drinking for an ABV over 8.5. Damn, this is highly drinkable! Well crafted imperial that is real desriable on draft.

Draft. Pours murky golden yellow with thin white head that dissipates. Nice hop aroma with little carbonation. Hop forward flavor with limited complexity. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour is hazed copper with a good bit of white head and some large bubbles leaving a thick lace. Nose is heavy citrus, light oxidation, and some stale biscuit like malt. Taste has some biscuity malt up front, sweet caramel and sweet malts, citrusy hops and a hint of resin. Thicker syrupy body with strong carbonation and a grainy finish. A bit sweet and hops may be fading, 2 months old I believe.

Rcvd in trade. The appearance has a somewhat of a hazy dark brown colored body with a one fingered white foamy head that leaves some adequate clingy lacing that seems to be going all over the place. The smell has resinous hops with a nice citrusy aspect to it and also some nice spicy connotations to it as well. The taste has a bittersweet hoppy to sweet flavoring and combined all of the way through in the flavoring to leave a decent resinous aftertaste with a slight dry spicy finish. The palate sits about a medium on the body, not as sessionable as I had hoped for but did notice the 8.7% on the bottle so I guess I should have noticed that. Carbonation is good for the DIPA style and good for me. Overall, I would definitely take this one again if ever offered or have the opportunity to spend some more time back in Maine. To anyone visiting Maine, please don’t forget about Rising Tide often under-shadowed by Maine Beer Company.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2014 Had on tap at the Grog. $7 for the full pint. Pours a golden orange, sustaining a minimal, ringed whitish head 1 finger in length which rested atop. Tastes and smells of fried cabbage, American hops, stale bread, biscuit malt, pine needles, candied sugar, sawdust, and yeast. Clean, crisp, and respectably refined. Arguably the best beer Rising Tide has thus released.

22 oz. bottle. Pours copper with a slight haze. One finger white head that recedes leaving decent lace. Strong, clean hop aroma. Pine and juniper. Like walking through a pine forest on a cold winter day. Flavor starts with a cookie dough sweetness then wave after wave of citrus hop goodness storm your taste buds. Bitter and sweet simultaneously. Moderate in body with a resinous texture. Bitter finish. Excellent, and reasonably priced, I thought. $7.00 for a bomber.

On tap at Battleship. Pours a hazy dark golden color with a thick head. Aroma is of grapefruits, malt, and lactic hop scent. Different but interesting. Flavor is of malts, a nice hop punch, and grapefruit. Long lingering bitter aftertaste, the smell lingers long into the tasting. Full bodied but with an elevated carbonation level. Good brew. Nice and smooth for something close to 9%.

bomber, this one is a piney resin dank bomb. Not too many of these anymore, I really like em. Good malt body so that its not too "west coasty"
