3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours unclear dark coffee in color with a huge creamy beige head that needs to settle. The aroma bring some over roasted malt and coffee notes. Flavor is nice but falls a little flat. There is roasted malts as a backbone but not much else.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle in an English pint. Pours dark brown with a lacy, light tan head. Aroma of light roasted malts and light coffee and light hops. Flavor has more than whatís apparent in the aroma, but still pretty light. Average texture. A decent beer, but could be better.

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
UPDATED: FEB 6, 2013 Amazingly high expectations for this brew. The label kicks ass! Poured from a 22 oz bomber into a snifter. Color looks weak & flimsy. Sweet nose of malty goodness. Mouthfeel is non existant. Gross sticky film left on my tongue. Horrible, at best. Nice label though.

Read the label and imbibed with an open mind. However, two sips and I stopped drinking. Think burnt cigarette butts sitting in rain water outside in a butt can. Yeah, sorry guys but you must Re-tool this recipe. It's not for me or my wife.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From the bomber, it pours very dark and leaves the same color body. A one inch white foamy head appears and slowly dies to a half centimeter bubbly head. Foamy spotty lacing graces the pint glass. The smell has a roasty coffee up front with some light malt in the background. The taste is a great combination between the coffee and the chocolate with a lingering roastiness to both. The palate is about a medium touching closer to the watery side, still acceptable and I like it because it makes it highly drinkable. Overall, an impressive beer from Rising Tide that I would be happy to come back to.

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Sickly tan head recedes to mottle surface. Dark chocolate and espresso aromas. Thin with roasted nuts and bready caramel upfront turning to mocha in the dry, medium length finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured into a tulip. I had to get this because I love Bard coffee. The body is black; there is a light tan colored head.
The aroma has mild coffee notes, but is overall not very strong.
The taste is light in flavor, with some pumpernickel bread. The coffee flavor is not very roasty, which makes the overall taste in line with a nice brown porter as opposed to the hybrid stout style. Very nice.
This is light in body, with nice crisp carbonation.
I like this. My two reservations are the price (I got mine for about eight bucks) and the labeling of the beer as a coffee porter. Technically itís a coffe porter for sure, but a lot of beer enthusiasts might see that label and have expectations of big bold roasty flavors. Subtlety and drinkability are the name of the game here.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz. bottle from the Bier Cellar, Portland, ME for $6.99. English pint. Nice eye appeal for a porter. Nice ring of white head that clings to the glass on the way down. Great aroma of coffee and roasted malt on the nose. Flavor is organic coffee, roasted and chocolate malt. Roast and coffee linger just a bit. Body is medium with texture is oily and slick. Not the best coffee porter Iíve had but decent.

[bottle from HP Provisions, Kennebunkport, ME]
Sweet and nutty coffee and coffee malt aroma with some faint pine hops. Dark brown with clear, red highlights under a thin, off-white cover and ring that laces the glass. Sweet hazelnut and full city plus coffee flavour that is intense and not complex. Some vanilla and roasty notes. Medium body, medium carbonation, nutty coffee finish. Chock full ío nuts!
