Dark mahogany pour with tan head. Smells of roasted malts and slight hops. Taste follows. Good

My Bottom Line :
This dry and prickly Schwrzbier focuses on its toasted bread flavors and green, wooden hop bitterness to serve up an unpolished but drinkable pint.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-Tons of immovable foam need to get eaten through before getting to the dark brown liquid.
-Like their Weizen, this is decent, but it is overcarbonated and rough in the flavor profile.
-Light currant flavors are perceived here and there.
-The toastiness evolves into roastiness, but both are awash in carbonation...
-This definitely lacks comfort in the mouthfeel to let the flavors shine through.

On tap at the brewpub.

12/10/10/9/9/9

500 ml flip-top bottle in Germany. Thanks to shrubber85. Pours a black color with a brown head. Roasty and malty aroma. Smooth and light, but still full flavor with plenty of malty roastiness. Nice.

Black color; creamy head. Light aroma of caramel, roasted malt, liquorice. Medium body structure, with the dryness from the roasted malt; there is a straightforward, yet mild, roasted malt flavor. Correct bitterness.

Draught at the brewpub. Beautiful almost black coloured with a creamy head. Big roasty and malty aroma. Mild and elegant, but still full flavoured with plenty of roastiness. Soft mouthfeel. A very good Schwarzbier.
