Bottle (from Landbierparadies): Dark amber coloured, thin but stable off-white layer, a bit lacing; sweet-malt, chocolate, molasses, fruit (berries) and herbal hops in the complex nose; sweetish-malty flavour, light to medium bodied; long-lasting sweet fruity-malty finish, some shy bitterness in the aftertaste. O.K., drinkable with pleasure...............

Small yellowish fine head; dark red-brown beer. Dark head with dark sugar, and a fine, just-not-hops leafy aroma, delicate; slightly honeyish. Soft-sweet taste, a bit dry-leafy, dried-out black bread. Very little aftertaste, just some dryness - again dried (not toasted) bread. Mineral water quality, slightly syrupy impression on swallowing. Pretty good, just what a simple beer should be about.

A Mes rate. Bottle from Quinns. An attractive red amber colour with a decent off white head. Rich bready malt aroma with a pronounced smoky character. Reasonable chocolate malt and caramel in the mouth but let down considerably by a clear metallic note. Pleasant and spritely mineral finish brings it back on track but it’s nothing special overall. a nice enough brew but drinks much more like a märzen if you ask me.

(bottle) Clear, mahogany colour with a beige medium-sized foamy head. Moderately sweet and toasted malty aroma with a whiff of cacao and herbal hops. Moderately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Toasty malt-character with distinctive notes of chocolate and caramel, body gets slimmer towards the toasty and slightly herbal hoppy finish. Decent. 02.V.10

50cl bottle from the Doemens stash. Red-brown color with a lasting white head. Spicy, toasty peanut munich malt aroma. Pretty dry, some iron in the flavor, and a lot of toasty, nutty malt. Medium body and medium carbonation. Decent but not harmonious.

Pours out of the bottle in a deep dark brown colour with low unsteady head and medium body. Aroma of malt and nuts. Taste of mild malt, nuts, woods, hops, bread and light honey. Easy and nice to drink - quaffable and enjoyable when it has got the right temperature.
