4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured clear golden with a medium sized white head. Not much in the nose apart from citric and floral hints. Sublime and refined flavor with noble floral hops. Clean and refreshing. Light fluffy mouthfeel. Refined but pronounced bitterness in the balanced dry finish. Lovely!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Blonde. Hay and Tobacco in the aroma. Firm hay-like hopbitter flavor, somewhat overpowering the bready notes. Franconian pils at its best.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(bottle, 33cl) Clear, golden colour with a blond and firm mid-sized foamy head. Herbal and slightly grassy hoppy aroma with mildly bready malt and a subtle touch of citrus and iodine. Not as bitter as expected but with an almost rounded malty sweetness, light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Delicately bready malt character, dry mouthfeel with present herbal hops; dry, bitter and slightly sweet finish, which is also a bit short. Nevertheless a likeable Pils. 18.V.13

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at Brauerei Rittmayer Hallerndorf.
Rich and clear gold body. Medium-sized static head. Some effervescence.
Aroma hops are subdued when cold, so there’s a lot of rich toasted grain / bread character.
Hops open up with warmth and give the aroma a lot of juicy lemon oil character.
Medium sweet/dry, oily and rich malt texture.
Frothing, filling carbonation and alpha acids are very quenching.
Zesty citrus residual flavor.
Herbal / wildflower / dandelion character blossoms with more warmth.
Silky, oily and waxy texture throughout.
Minor hints of pine resin.
My notes say an excess of astringency and bitterness late. Those words don’t match what I remember.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
bottle, thank you pivnizub! Clear golden colour, huge white head, very persistant. Lovekly aromatic hoppy nose, grassy and resiny. Pleasantly bitter on a malty base, with aromatic hops that add hints of grass, hay, lemon zest and flowers. Very nice and with its own character.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting.
Body is light to medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately to heavily hoppy (lemon oil, lemon cleaner, flowers, resin).
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter.
Medium body, velvety/watery texture, lively carbonation.
Rather one-dimensional nose, huge dose of lemon oily hops, which even have some west coast US floor cleaner character. Gets a bit tiring quickly, but fairly clean and enjoyable. More bitter than the 42 IBU might make you think, and blinded I would honestly think this was made in the States. India Pale Lager, anyone? One of the more unusual breweries in Franconia...this and Smokey George seem to be aimed more at American beer geeks than Germans.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Fine hop aroma, and packed with herbs and grass. Like ther very best North German or Bohemian pilseners. I hope this gets the attention it deserves.
