4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Traditional or awful overloaded front of the bottle? Pale beer with a nice, but disappearing head. The aroma is wonderful flowery and hoppy. It starts malty, hoppy and full-bodied. Soft carbonation and very smooth palate. Nice, soft bitterness and grassy notes. The finish is moderate dry and a bit sticky. Delicious, thirst-quenching and easy to drink.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Half litre bottle, poured into over sized Tripel Karmeliet tulip. A: Golden, clear, large rocky head, decent retention, some lacing. S: Not overly pronounced but combined slight Saaz hop with a small hint of grass. At times it was reminiscent of a Fernsehpils. T: The hop bitterness was balanced out by some orangey malty sweetness,
bready finish. M: Minimal to moderate amount of carbonation, slightly heavy body. O: An easy drinker, fairly subtle, wouldn’t get rave reviews from a hard core hop head but perfectly acceptable.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
50cl fliptop, Fristo, bb01/2015. Straw golden with stable eggwhite froth. Distinct strawy cereals in the nose lay down characteristic, fragrant pale malts in taste and palate for near-metallic herbaceous hops to perch on. Slightly sour mash edge, hedgerow-herbal, with some wet bark, straw astringent. Good stuff, I imagine this is even more convincing on tap.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500 ml bottle, poured into Weizen glass.
Head is large and foamy but dissipates quickly and leaves only some scattered lace.
Aroma is dominated by malt. Taste is also malty at first, a bit fruity in the middle and the hops hits you last. Leaves a pleasant, slightly bitter aftertaste.
Body feels light to medium. Carbonation is medium.
Average beer. Not bad but neither impressive.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: DEC 12, 2013 From tap at both the keller and brewery as well as fresh bottles over the past several years: Clear polished golden. Creamy halo of tight foam holds nicely. Soft and muted but attractive nose of haylike pils malt, flower nectar, fennel seed, and lemon. Some hoppy "greenness", as well. Firm carbonation. Bracingly mineralic and dryly malty, initially, with a soothing splash of floral hop juices. Very elegant and soft hop character is accompanied by slick melon flavors which harmonize with the lilac- and honeysuckle-tinged hops. Bright herbalness and a lemony twang combine to quench and uplift as the weightless pils malt looms gracefully in the background. Finishes with a pleasing scratch of minerals and soft noble hop whispers which vivify the bouncy fresh-hay notes. A fairly straightforward example that’s not very singular in character, but it’s quite clean. This beer is another head-scratcher in terms of its consistency, or lack thereof. After spending a lot of time in Franconia, one eventually realizes that there tends to be significant variance from tap to bottle. Such is the case with this beer, although the most positive experience was at the Rittmayer keller in Kreuzberg during May, 2013 (reflected in my score here). *Shrug.*
