Koelschtrinker (12210) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 7, 2011

(bottle) pours a clear yellow colour with a frothy white head. aroma of pale malts, with a hint of butter, grassy earth and floral hops. flavour is mostly diacetyl, though in a spicy kind of way, with a pronounced banana and bubble-gum finish, surprisingly bitter. would be great without all the butter. medium body and carbonation.

Pours medium golden with medium head. Uninspiring aroma. Nondescript flavour. A thoroughly mediocre beer in a handsome bottle.

Bottled. Yellowish orange colour with small white head. Aroma is bready malts, some slight wooden notes, mild toasted notes as well as some slight herbal notes. Flavour sweet caramel and bready malts along with some wood, herbs and a bit saltwatery notes. Rather interesting Dortmunder/Helles, as I can’t remember having one this much toasted before. Smooth to drink and not all that bad.

Bottle, 4.9%. Mild malty aroma, hint of soap. Almost clear golden colour, big stable white head. The flavour is quite malty with a distinct hop bitterness. Almost vinous at first. OK clean, but perhaps a bit sweet.

clear yellow, white head. a little faint citrussy aroma, flowery, dry, hops, bread. flavor is well balanced, ending a little more bitter than it tastes, hard to take the flavors apart but i think it tastes really good.
