The head is ok, the body dark-brown. It smells malty, smoky. The taste is malty, smoky, sweet-smoky. Not very interesting for a smoked beer but drinkable. 10/10/10/10/12/10

Bottle @ home. Backlog. Clear amber to red color with a white frothy head and some lacing. Nose is sweet malty and unpleasantly metallic and meaty. Has notes of peat, toast, tobacco, grass and. Sweet & fat maltiness in flavor. Has peat, smoke, wood and bread. Dry finish with some sweet caramel. Earthy brief bitterness. There’s also some cardboard.

Deep amber brown appearance with very bubbly head. Smoky aroma with hints sweet roast and meat. A bit overly sweet taste, but otherwise balanced. Decent Smoked style beer.

Vom fass at Rittmayer keller at Kreuzberg. Aroma is nutty, light smoke, meaty notes (bacon, smoked pork). Taste is nutty, grassy, really light smokiness yet very pleasant, close to a kellerbier with just a nice dose of smoke. Palate is light with light carbonation. Extremely easy drinking.

Hartes Zeug eben.

Bottle consumed in Dec. 2012, best before Feb 2013: Rusty gold. Tight and creamy white head. Pleasant nose of browned breadcrust, toasted brown sugar, smoked hay dust, candied pecan, tobacco, and licorice hops. Hint of melanoidins and jammy blackberry esters. Soft and snug carbonation. Tad thin body. Beefy smoke and rich melanoidins caress the tongue right out of the gate. Fairly dry and cleanly attenuated, with a continuation of rich malt. Quenching hop acids merge with a well defined wood-root-spice hop kiss. Underlying vanilla cookie and marzipan flavors sweeten the lean center and lend some bounce as well. Flash of dark fruit slickness is coarsened by light minerals and bittersweet chocolate. Semi-chewy finish is packed with toasted bread and luscious melanoidins. A solid rauchbier...flavorwise, it’s maybe a bit quiet, and the body is on the thin side, but it’s certainly nice and clean.

50cl swing top bottle where the label seems to challenge you to find the name of the beer and the name of the brewer. It pours up with a clear amber body that supports an off white head of foam that leaves behind spotty lacing. The modest aroma offers up malts, some caramel malts and then a light hit of molasses sweetened soft smokiness. The taste begins with a nice bite of malty sweet smokiness that is light on the bacon but offers enough smoke to cover the flavor from front to back. To midway it picks up caramel and molasses and then a slight drying malt sweetened light roasted maltiness. It ends pretty even with a bit of dryness and a modest after taste sensation. Nice smooth approachable Smoked beer. Could be smokier for my taste but good nonetheless.
