Geruch angenehm rauchig, malzig, Karamell. Geschmack leicht rauchig, röstmalzig, würzig.

Pours clear golden with medium head. It is one of that beers that you just like or not - because of the specific aroma of the whiskey malt used in it. It smells like some burned plastic or ashtray, with a nice sweetness underneath it. The taste is sweet, with nice roastiness from the whiskey malts. Medium carbonation, medium to light body, i really enjoyed it.

0,5 l bottle with pseudo scottish label art. Thanks to kappldav123 for it. Dark amber in the glass, very small head. Sweet smoke already from a distance for the nose. I don´t know, is the taste more a burned plastic or burned fresh wet wood? A little bit too much in my opinion. Sour citrus notes. Except the smoke a thin body. Not my cup of tea.

Bouteille 50cl de Hopfen & Malz partagée avec Tomaz. BB 06/05/2014.

0.5l bottle. Clear dark amber body, long lasting beige head. Aroma of caramel, smoke and ash. It’s not smoky in a way that most rauchbiers do. It’s not simiar to a smoked ham, more like burnt charcoal. The taste also has this ashy character with toast and caramel. The flavor impact is very strong. Unusual beer, but I like it.

Flasche. - Assamteefarben, dichter heller Schaum.

500 ml bottle.
Pours a beautiful dark copper colour with an amber hue and a small head. Aroma is very strong with pungent wood, smoked ham, fern and peat. Flavour of smooth smoked malts, mild raisiny sweetness, grassy bitterness and smoked ham and tar. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and low carbonation. Smooth malty, slightly sweet finish with subtle smoked notes. The smokiness nor the peatiness here isn’t too overwhelming and complements the beer rather nicely. On the otherhand, this beer is a bit too thin and flavour-wise a bit too smooth and not strong enough. Overall a nice smoked beer still.

Bottle. from The Dram Shop, Sheffield. Amber red, thin sortlived off white head and gentle condition. Intense woody, smokey nose with a slight phenolic/iodine edge but a low burnt toffee sweetness lurks, much more balanced in the mouth but still with a few rough edges, quite fruity and sweet with a dry smokiness that has a now muted phenol note. Finsh has some more toffee notes and a lingering but subdued peaty smokiness.

Bottle from Getränke Oase, Munich. Lovely campfire aroma, lovely glowing brown. Light palate, I would have liked a bit more body to baolance the smoky whisky character. But it’s nice.
