Bottle (not that cork though in the picture though). Aroma smoke, malts. Slightly thin palate and leaves an aromatized lager feel. Needs more body to be really premium. But Not Bad.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!
Ins Glas ergießt sich ein rötlich-braunes Bier, minimal dunkler als andere Rauchbiere. Geruchlich kommt direkt ein schinkiges Raucharoma durch, aber relativ dezent. Vom Whiskey-Malz kann man noch nichts riechen. Der Antrunk ist typisch Rauchbier. Angenehm malzig, stark röstig und rauchig, die schinkige Note dominiert. Mit viel Mühe schmeckt man ein Whiskey Aroma raus. Der Abgang ist wiederum sehr röstig und die rauchige Note nimmt etwas ab. An sich ein sehr geiles Bier, aber ich hab mir leider mehr davon erwartet!

50cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Clear amber brown colour, off white head. Aroma of full on peated malts, iodine, earth, light caramel. Flavour is peat, iodine, fizzy CO2/minerals, very watery actually, light malty, smokey finish. Watery, thin, lightbodied, fizzy. Aroma promises way more than the beer can deliver, this was quite a let-down.

(50 cl bottle) Clear reddish-amber color, beige foamy head. Taste is medium bitter. Aroma of peated malt, obviously. Reminds me strongly of my old box of watercolors. Ink smells like that too. Burnt flavor, slightly metallic. Anyway, this is quite different from the usual Franconian smoked beers. I am not a fan of scotch whisky, so I do not instantaneously enjoy Smokey George that much. But: It is still the most convincing and uncompromising whisky-malt beer I have tried so far. I appreciate that very much, kudos to Rittmayer!

Amber orange colour with thin and long-lasting head. Aroma is rather light with whiskey-style smoke, some tar and grainy malt. Flavour is a bit weird with smoke and some stinging element that usually appears in scotch whiskeys. Palate is a bit too low on CO2. Weird but kind of interesting; a beer where scotch whisky meets German smoked lager.

50cl bottle from Bierzwerg. BBE 05/2012. Poured dark amber with a frothy white head. Heavy peaty, whisky in aroma. Flavor is light peat, smoke and caramel malt. Finish is sweet with some light smokeyness.Thin body. Not very balanced.

Bottle (once in Hütt’n last month, and again now with another bottle I smuggled home...ratings are almost identical). Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear medium brown. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), with notes of smoke (fireplace/chimney, only a touch of smoked meat), earth/peat, iodine, oak, manure, grass, straw. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Remember those godawful Islay malt "Paradox" stouts that BrewDog made? Well, this (minus the stout/porter character) is probably what they were attempting to achieve with those things. This is like nosing an actual Islay malt whisky, not just a beer with cigarette ashes and seaweed dumped in it. I’m not even a fan of Islay malts, but it’s easy to recognize a deep and beautiful marriage of characters as opposed to a crude, disjointed mish-mash. Nothing here sticks out or assaults the senses...all the various components work together in harmony and the result is exceptionally complex and rustic. The aroma is highly evocative of a rural landscape...farmland (grass, straw, horse droppings, peat, wood) with a campfire crackling at your feet. I must admit I prefer the meatier types of Rauchbier better, but the complexity in this one is ridiculous. Exceptionally clean and balanced (for quaffing endlessly). It doesn’t look like much and the mouthfeel is pretty watery, but otherwise this is truly great stuff.

Bottle. Dark amber, small to average and fully diminishing head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, smokiness and some bacon with light peat - whisky. Medium, malty and sweetish flavor, light smokiness and light bacon with faint peat. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, some smokiness and light bacon with faint peat - whisky. OK smoked beer although body is bit thin - aroma/flavor not in balance. Anyway, nice smokey aroma with light peat.
