COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We tend to do things a little differently here at Ritual, so when the call came in to make a new style Red ale, we immediately deferred to the full-flavored segment of the taste spectrum. We certainly didn’t skimp on the malts (after all, we used eight different varieties), giving this beer a multi-layered complexity of caramel and toffee.

Balancing out the malty backbone required hops, hops and even a few more hops. The result is a rich, layered, full-bodied beer bringing together a classically complex malt backbone with an assertive West Coast finish. 1.060 O.G.

Pours a copper color with a clean malt aroma. Taste is very simple and dry. An easy drinking red with minimal character. An unfilitered look to the beer with floating malt throughout.

3 Nov 2013, cask at Ritual Brewery. Amber, clear, no bubbles. Nose is nice; peaches and very faint grapefruit hops. Med body and almost entirely flat. This is a lot sweeter than the normal version, peaches are bigger, hops aren't as noticeable. I like this better than the normal extra red. It is a heavy beer but flavors aren't extreme. Very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

3 Nov 2013, tap at Ritual Brewery. Light brown and a tad cloudy. Nose is slightly sweet, mild alcohol, maybe some soft or mealy peaches. Med body and faintly fizzy. Slightly bitter, red malt, some peaches. Nice enough. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at brewery. Clear dark orange with a fizzy white head. Toffee, citrus, and toasted cereal grain aroma and taste with an earthy, leathery bitter finish. Smooth medium bodied palate.

Received in a growler swap from whatsupstairs. Thanks! Shared with Hayduke. Our first face to face tasting. Amber and lightly hazed. A big funky looking beige head. It subsided unevenly. Hops in front of the nose are citrus and floral. Nice. This seems fresh and the hops are bright. Thanks again, Justin. Biscuit in the malts. Caramel, too. There are prevalent fruit notes that are also quite nice. Bitterness comes along with some sour flavor that is grapefruit. Perhaps Cascade hops. This is borderline Pale Ale and is heavy on the hops for that style. Midway the floral notes move to the front. Toffee jumps in. It becomes earthy and is chewy. The hops put this over the top for me. Nicely done.

From a growler share with Strykzone. Poured a copper red color with an off -white head. Nose if caramel malts and floral notes. Medium in body with a soft carbonated mouth feel. Flavor is fruity with floral and earthy notes, and big toasty malts. The floral hops are big for an amber and lead to a good chewy bitter finish. Very nice.

Tap at Ritual. Pours a clear, deep amber. Weak foam. Nose is hoppy, toasty, vegetal. Taste is malty, spicy, decently hoppy. Odd, weaker DMS character. Not a fan.

Only so-so. Amber isn’t an uber exciting style but this just seems bland. No hop presence and a little viscous. Better than the wit by a mile but not tasty to me.

Amber in color with an off-white head. Sweet toffee malt, some perfumery floral hops, and a bit of yeast. Moderate toast, some bread, and a bit of caramel. Tastes of toast, bread, and toffee. Light caramel, some floral hops, and a very light bitterness. Not bad, but kind of a boring, middle of the road amber.
