River City Brewing K Street Kolsch

Draft at WCBF 2008. Light grassy aroma. Dark gold color with a huge whie head. Near medium body with mild carbonation. Nice balance of sweet malt and bitter into the finish.

Not to much there with the aroma, but also not expected from this style. NIce golden straw color. Could probably drink my weight in this beer. Great session beer, especially on a nice warm, sunny day.

10 ounce sample at the brewpub. Minty, sweet, cidery, fermented corn-like aroma. Amazingly cider-like. Transparent goldent color with plenty of bubbles and a small, feeble white head. Sweet, cidery, cloying. Underattenuated and more cider. Barely drinkable. I don’t have much to say other than this is really bad.3/3/2/1/2 1.1--------------------RE-RATE--------------------12 ounce sample. Grainy, cereal-like aroma dominates. There are some light citrus and floral tones present, too. Transparent pale golden body with a small, whitish head. QUite biscuity, grainy start. Becomes more lemony and citric later on. Some floral flavors are also present. Flavorful, but lacks the finishing hop crispness that I expect in a Kolsch. A little thin and filtered, too. This sample was MUCH MUCH more enjoyable than my initial one 9 months ago.

Draft. Pale straw/golden color with a nice white head. Grassy/earthy hops flavor with some banana notes. Slight grassy aroma. Medium-light bodied. Refreshing and easy to drink.
