Tap at brewpub Pours an average cloudy amber; lifeless body and very little head. Aroma is honey, toasted rye, simple sugar, and Ben Gay. Flavor is a rush of honey-soaked alcohol, light corn biscuit, pancake syrup, and a touch malted rose. Slippery and oily on the tongue. Perhaps a bit too wild right now; resembles a high-class malt liquor from a corner store than a craft beer from a brew pub.

3 oz. sample at the brewery. No head and nose of alcohol, rye, malts, hops and more alcohol. It seemed promising before the taste. The alcohol smacks you in the face along with the overwhelming sweetness. A slight malt background makes this somewhat drinkable. I’m glad I didn’t get a full glass of this. The total score is deceptive..
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 heemer77 (5013) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - NOV 24, 2005
Medium hazy godl colored body with a thin white head. The aroma is light and took a while to find. Peaches, cinnamon, leaves and sweet honey all come to play, though. The taste had bananas, light vanilla and a spicy cinnamon finish. There is also a salty and sweaty alcohol character as this gets warmer. A strange beer indeed.

Mildly hazy golden color. Small bubbly head. Served pretty cold in a fluted pilsner glass (?!). Honeyish aroma, or at least I hope its not just my imagination. The aroma as a whole is weak, and is not helped by the choice of glass. Some alcohol in the nose too. Flavor is seriously sweet, like last year’s dark barleywine. Needs hops, bad, or at least a more attenuative yeast. Peppery alcohol kick in the finish.
