On draft at the Drafting Room, Spring House. I’m not a huge fan of River Horse beers, but this one was fantastic. It was so good that I took a growler to go. Pours deep amber with ruby menisci. Not much head or lacing. Aroma of malt, toffee, cabernet, nuts. Tastes malty, somewhat nutty and fruity, with a somewhat dry, crisp finish. There is a definite Belgian Ale presence here, and that ramps up the complexity for this one.

Bottle. This beer has a dark pour and is great cold. Caramel and alcohol flavors match well. However this beer has been worse each time i try it:-(. (Back logged rating)

aroma, malt, but fruity too, like a belguim and a winter ale mixed?, color, medium light amber hue, taste, fruit belguim yeast forward, slight warmness, from the malt, overall, tried this beer after no beers for a couple weeks, so I tasted better that maybe its general rating.

Medium brown with a thick light brown head.
Sweet malt body with a bit of Belgain sourness and hints of raisins and other fruit. Pleasant bitterness at the end. Warming and well-done!

Intriguing stuff. Red-brown. Nose yeasty, lots of caramel, some peat. Taste is interesting, some definite caramel and toffee as in a standard winter ale, but then there’s a lemon/yeast combination that’s very reminiscent of a weizenbock. Finish dry and a bit nutty. Kind of tastes like a winter and a weizenbock mixed together, certainly not perfect but at least an interesting combo of flavors.

Dark amber color. Medium head. Aroma is malt, candy sugar and dark fruit. A medium bodied Belgian Ale. Malts are dark fruity, malty and sweet. Touch of hop spiciness. Well balanced. Not a lot of the complexity you would expect in a Belgian Ale, but it does have a lot of those nice winter beer flavors. Small and fine carbonation that is more on the back end of the taste. Kind of grows on you. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Dark brown color, nice, though modest cocoa tan foam above...adequate...
Aroma: malt, sweetish, dark, cocoa and nut and...rather rich, likable...
Very tasty on the tongue, too...cocoa rings loud, dark fruit, deliciousness, dates and nuts, and all those other things...rich, molasses-y, ...big and rich, sez I, no country music fan...
Biggish body, longish finish...sweetness, richness, and full of flavor. Delish...I just keep on enjoyin’...
