12 oz bottle courtesy of Cletus as an extra. Wonderful. Pours a hazy light gold, faint orange shows up a bit, huge white cakey head that starts to die down, eventually ends up a small layer, decent lacing. Aromas are heavy on coriander, throwing orange zest and flaked white wheat behind a power coriander presence. A touch of citrus and faint estery banana. Initial is the lighter bodied, a touch chalky or bitter, moving to a decent sweet and spicey mix or orange peel, heavier coriander, flaked wheat provided a mellower sweetness. A touch spicey, dry, with some hoppiness that really comes in fairly strong in the finish, dry bitterness. Florals? Overall, the flavors in this brew aren’t bad, but the overall piece of work is a bit lacking for a "style" that already gets a bad rap (Double/Imperial Wits). Overall, ok.

Draft from Spring lounge. Average witte, nothing special here. Move along.

Bottle thanks to Cletus. Pours with a nearly clear yellow body with a fluffy, and somewhat large white head atop. Not nearly cloudy enough for a wit beer, but I digress. Aroma of coriander, dryness, light clove, fresh tobacco, tumbleweed, jasmine, lemon peel and a touch of candi sugar. Interesting. Taste starts off sweet and fruity with citrus notes, and ends bone dry and spicy. Yeast reminds me a lot of the Unibroue yeast. Candi sugar notes. Bubbly mouthfeel. Interesting "wit".

Bottle. Pours gold with a fluffy white head. Spicy aroma, with some lemony and piny notes. The flavor is lightly sweet and strangely spiced. Not awful, but not entirely pleasant.

A hazy golden wit with a thin white head. A nice fruity aroma, banana, a bit of catnip. In mouth, a nice light oily mouth, fruity esters, bananas and cloves, rather silky. Medium bodied. Tap at BCTC 2009

This double white is packed with a punch! It has a lot of spiciness and booziness all going on, same for the aroma. There are notes of citrus zest (not the deodorant soap) in the aroma and flavor as well.

Tap at Rattle N’ Hum. Pours golden with a bright white ring. Nose is sweet, somewhat rich and a little spiced. Taste is Nice slightly hoppy, nicely spiced and all in all pretty good.

bottle from Bowery Whole Foods (nyc) labeled "River Horse Double Wit" pours a sparkly and cloudy light orange with thick frothy yellowish head. very odd aroma, like asparagus and pine nuts with some cloves. flavor is kinda bland with a somewhat off sour/bitter pine nut or pistachio finish. other than that there’s some artificial lemon flavors and a hint of metal. not sure what they did to this beer, but it’s just off. its fairly fizzy but also a bit oily.
