This is a very true-to-style Wit. Great aroma of clove and lemon. Has that ’twang’ that all good Witbiers have, but with a nice balance that makes it easy to drink and certanly not overpowering. While not particularly strong at 7% ABV, the alcohol is not noticed in the least. If this is your style (it’s not mine) I’m sure you could drink a lot of this. Was recently told this beer was going year round, which is a smart choice by River Horse........it’s probably their best offering.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of spices, cardamom, pepper, light clove, coriander, orange zest, wheat, and yeast. Poured golden/yellow in color with a large, frothy, white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Slightly sparkling. Full of tiny and very large particles throughout. Flavor of yeast, lemon, wheat, spices, slight pepper, slight vanilla, pollen, and malts. Light to medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Sweet, yeasty, dry finish.

12 oz bottle from eaglefan538. Pour is hazed golden yellow with a noisy 2 inch white head. Falls quickly with no lacing. Aroma of wheat, straw, some sweet cherry fruitiness near the back. Taste is honey sweet cherries out of the gate, with some slick wheat behind that. Finish lingers quite a bit, with a sharpness and some alcohol heat. The sweetness on this is pretty cloying. Palate is medium, slick and sticky. Thanks for sending this my way Brian.

Bottle->tulip: Pours a large, creamy, off-white head atop a cloudy, amber body. Aroma of banana, grape, peach, nutmeg, and ginger. The body is light, the texture is oily, the carbonation lively, and the finish astringent. The flavor’s duration is long and is heavily acidic. Quite tingly on the tongue, given all the carbonation and has a fruity taste, but is very astringent overall.

In short: A big not-refreshing condensed witbier.
How: Bottle 12oz, drank fresh soon after purchase
The look: Cloudy dark yellow body topped by a small white head
In long: A whole lot of hay in this one, big chewy body that borders some kind of purée. Slightly unpleasant strong fruity flavours of overripe pineapples and banana purée. Light spicy notes with the usual coriander and friends array of witbier spicy flavours. Alcohol apparent which is particularly annoying in this style. This Double White tries too hard to be too much. Like with a NFL defensive lineup a Single White could have been enough.

Chunky golden bronze color with a modest light cream colored head. Sweet aromas, with light caramel, tropical fruit, cardamom and a bit of citrus. A lot of ripe to over-ripe fruit hit you from the beginning. Fruit syrup meets up with a bit of floral hops. Seems cloying. Some lime in the finish and into the linger. More flavors of a belgian strong than a wit (even a strong one). Actually a bit of vanilla in the linger. Last bottle of six and this one seems to have all the yeast. Huge chunk of yeast in the final pour.

Hazy, dark gold appearance with a large white head and modest lacing. Sweet, fruity, spicy aroma evolves from a yeasty start. Smooth, moderately spiced, wheaty taste. Medium bodied, nicely carbonated mouthfeel with a lingering, slightly tart, finish.
