raymow (738), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 15, 2008 Decent color with a cloudy, yeasty appearance. Flavor is as one would expect for the style and the quality of River Horse. I can taste a bit more alcohol than I would expect from a 7%er. Ughsmash (3983), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 15, 2008 Thanks to Markus for the bottle! Poured cloudy medium golden with a tall, well-retained, fluffy cap of white head.. some chunky sediment in there. The aroma was drier with dusty wheat and bananas.. white pepper overtones.. touch of lemon on the zest.. very well balanced. Semi-sweet banana and white pepper again in the flavor.. spicier on the back with some overt alcohol.. floral notes and a little light fruit on the middle.. warm peppery finish. Medium-plus bodied with a touch of dry cardboard at the edges.. spicy finish was alright. Good brew. Chipper (181), Red Lion, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 15, 2008 An orange color with a small white head. Lot’s of fruit and spice aroma. Taste is a bit dry and lot’s of citric notes. A nice finish and an overall excellent brew. Yet another great summer beer. FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA Jul 2, 2008 12oz bottle. Pale golden color with a very large rocky white head. Heavy spicy aromatics; coriander, citrus zest, bubblegum, and clove. Sharp spiciness upfront, melange of aroma characters. Grainy, wheaten flavor then asserts itself. Fruity esters and floral perfumey spice linger in the finish, with heavy residual wheat. Mouthfeel is a light medium, somewhat dry. riversideAK (2650), Shoreline, Washington, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bottle from hopdog. Thanks dude! Golden orange, nice fluffy head, some floaties. Spice, coriander, orange peel, wheat aromas. Acidic flavors of orange rinds, wheat, and spice. This might actually be kind of hoppy too. Lots of carbonation tickles the tongue. Tangy finish with a soft underlying wheat that softens it out a little. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 30, 2008 Cloudy yellow like grapefruit with white bubbly head and a bit of lace. A bit astringent. OK beer. Spiciness, cloves and cardoman beneath the surface. Understated carbonation. hopscotch (5441), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jun 29, 2008 Bottle... Hazy straw-colored ale with a large, frothy, white head. Breadsy and spicy aroma with fruity esters (or actual fruit peels, I dunno). Medium-bodied and creamy with laid back carbonation. Spicy and sweet. Light acidity. Tangy, spicy finish. DeadGuyFrank (347), http://westchesterbeer.com, USA Jun 22, 2008 The sentiments of RsteBeer’s member Heathen is right on the mark - finally a River horse that I liked. Pours a typical murky gold, lots of citrus and hop flavor yes some Belgian style banana in there as well. Not bad, not bad at all.
