Hazy straw-colored ale with a large, frothy, white head. Breadsy and spicy aroma with fruity esters (or actual fruit peels, I dunno). Medium-bodied and creamy with laid back carbonation. Spicy and sweet. Light acidity. Tangy, spicy finish. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA May 26, 2008 (Bottle, courtesy of Swalden 28) Pours a cloudy maize body with a small off-white head. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 9, 2009 On tap in the summer of 2008: Pours a hazy deep golden with a thin, wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of fresh ground coriander and a sweet biscuity pale maltiness. Body starts with good fullness and carbonation with a light orange citrus flavor and good coriander spice. Smooth, full flavored yet pretty drinkable. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jun 14, 2008 12 oz bottle-pours a big frothy off white head and cloudy yellow/gold color. Aroma is spice-coriander/clove, faint orange zest, grain. Taste is mostly dry spice-coriander/clove. Then banana/faint orange zest/pumpkin, grain/wheat with some sweetness. Pepper comes through at mid and after taste. OK carbonation. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for picking this out. Cletus (5002), Connecticut, USA Jul 15, 2009 Pours a hazy amber with a nice white head. Smells of coriander, citrus, grassy, wheaty, some spicy hints. Tastes of citrus, some honey, coriander, some spice, peppery hints. Nicely carbonated with a dry finish. A really like this brewery’s take on Belgian styles and other experimental beers and hope they do more. At $14 for a sixer of their tripel and $8 for a 4 pack of this, they make some of the best beer for the price out there. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jul 5, 2009 Tap at Swift Hibernian Lounge. Hazy straw-gold beer with a dense 1/2" head. The aroma is lovely. Lots of citrusy, corianderish character with a pronounced spiciness on the back. Surprisingly, the yeast is quite expressive and the brewer seems to have used a light hand with the spicing. A light touch of clove as well as some honeyish malts. The malts have a bit more character than is usual in this style. Fruity with a light lemon and herbal/spicy yeastiness. It’s light and lean with a dry finish but with more than enough complexity to keep it interesting. A pretty solid wit.
