COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The fabled Hop-a-lot-amus is a mythical creature. The heavy hop character of this Double IPA is as subtle as a "river horse" in your lap, but finishes like a hippo in a tutu. Enjoy! 93 IBUs

Bottle Pours hazy amber with an off white head. The head is froathy and lasting. Produces some good lacing. Has a nice hoppy aroma of pine, floral, and citrus. Has a good carbonation. The flavor is nicely hopped. Not super bitter but definetly hoppy. Has a good amount of malts to balance it well. Has a medium body with a resiny texture. The finish is good with a solid aftertaste. Pretty good drinking beer.

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2011 ahhh a good new jersey beer. sweet jesus. such good news. double ipa. hazy golden, light beige head, piney heady herby nose, makes me salivate a wee bit. bready. taste is smooth, with intense bitterness balanced by a decent amount of malty goodness. certain delicateness, it is extremely good. im so beer deprived, i would give the shittiest beer a four but i feel like this one actually deserves it. --------

Growler. Aroma very floral-perfumy with some grassy notes and seedy citrus, all with a healthy dose of caramel malt. Flavor heavy malty and heavy hoppy, sticky on the malt, juicy on the hop. I’d still like a little less sweetness from my DIPA, but for the breed, this one was pretty solid.

Growler from Big Z Beverage. Pours a deep hazy orange/brown with a small white head. Aroma of caramel malt, floral hops, and a touch of citrus. Flavor is largely malty with some bitter hops in the finish. Pretty decent IIPA, although a little lacking in the citrus department. 7/4/7/4/15 [3.7/5]

Pours a dark copper, rather thin head, minimal lace. Nose is of other significant IPA/IIPA’s. Big on citrus, slight malt, etc. Taste is well balanced, slightly more malt than a more serious IIPA, but balances out the hops wonderfully. An absolute joy to drink, extremely effective assault on the palate, as an IIPA should be, but not as offensive as some of the others I have tried. Glad I tried this, definitely a good brew.

Pours a transparent dark copper amber with a thin, spotty-lacing off-white head. Aroma of juicy orange and grapefruity hops with some toasty caramel malty notes. Starts with good fullness and toasty caramel sweetness with a good earthy bitter grapefruity hop balance before a drier, crisp bittersweet finish. Pretty well balanced and enjoyable.

Bottle: Poured medium copper color with white head. Nice hoppy aroma and an excellent hoppy flavor with a balanced Malt taste.

12 oz - The Wine Source. Dark coppery amber, creamy off white head. Soft earthy pine and tangerine zest aromas ride a light undercurrent of toasted caramel malt. A moderate piney-earth bitterness rounds with a sweet peachy-caramel backbone. Full bodied, soft carboantion, bittersweet finish. Very much in line with an East Coast style I-IPA. Not a bad first attempt for these guys...

12oz bottle. Poured a medium and hazy amberish color with a larger sized off white head. Some lacing left on the glass. Aromas of citrus, some floralness, and caramel. Tastes of caramel, citrus, pine, and some toastiness. Light alcohol in the finish.

pineypower (2479) - Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA - SEP 16, 2009
Bottle. Pours out a hazy orange tinged copper color. Aroma of citrus hops, sweet malt. Taste is hoppy mostly citrus and slight grass, caramel, sweet syrupy fruit notes, dry and slightly alcoholic on the finish, but the sweetness lingers throughout and cuts into the hops. This would be a good IIPA for a malt head to get introduced to the style.
