COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The fabled Hop-a-lot-amus is a mythical creature. The heavy hop character of this Double IPA is as subtle as a "river horse" in your lap, but finishes like a hippo in a tutu. Enjoy! 93 IBUs

Pour is a light mahogany color, pretty opaque with a small off whtie head. Nose is of hops, mainly a citric smell with distinct orange notes. Taste is very much the same, a little more balanced than the nose may lead one to believe though still clearly and iipa.

Murky amber pour from fresh cold 12oz. retaining nicely in pint glass. Delicate floral bouquet complementing pink grapefruity zing. Perfect sweet/sour balance on medium body, with biscuity malt presence smoothing edge. Finishes with loads more grapefruit punch that lasts on the tongue. First from this crafter, anxious to sample other offerings.

12 oz bottle from a variety pack. Pours hazy-orange with a long lasting, off-white head and a lot of lacing. Aroma is of caramel malt, citrusy hops and some fruity esters. Body is full and smooth. A lot of piney, grapefruity hops balanced on the palate by large amount of caramel and biscuit malt. Finish is long lasting, dry, grapefruity. Solid brew. I think I will be buying more of River Horse brews.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2012 Bottle into a goblet, pours a golden honey haze with a heavy head that thins to a fast. Very hoppy with a nice bitter taste. Finish is a hop wash that gets better as it warms. I start it at 50f.

Cloudy copper pour with little white head and little lacing. Aromas of caramel malts and hay. Light sweet taste, some bitterness. More malty than hoppy. Overall, a nice brew. A little thin but decent flavor.

12 oz bottle, tulip. cloudy dark amber hue with cream egg shell lasting head, good lacing, dry hop gives medium bitter aftertaste, some juice/citrus but nothing that distinguishable, not as thick as a typical DIPA, just above average
