A surprisingly very smooth IPA. Not too much of a bite with the after taste. Biggest complaint is that I currently don't have more in my fridge.

Bottle courtesy of ken1. Hazy dark orange with a lasting off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and moderate hoppy - fruity. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. 180513
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 kuphish (378) - Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA - MAY 16, 2013
Bottle from EC. Clear, coppy body with a huge, off-white head. Lasting with tons of lace. Really pretty. Dusty malt aroma with some cracker. Muddy citrus and some peach. Flavor has muddy hops. Caramel and raisin malt. Very restrained. Fullish body with appropriate carbonation. Balanced bitterness and a clean finish. Not what I expected from an IIPA, but the balance and restraint really work for me here.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 italianjohn (2026) - Penndel, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 13, 2013
Deep amber pour, hazy medium frothy off white head and decent sticky lacing ... aroma is malty as heck with a light citrusy hop .... taste is bitter rindy with some citrusy hops and a caramel malt backbone ... mouthfeel has a strong bitter hop and lightly oily in the mouthfeel ... slightly boozy ... strong hop bitter bite but just lacks the big citrusy hop flavor

Uploading old ratings that were missing comments. Need to re-rate. Hop profile was dead. Must have been a bad bottle.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 mikedR (362) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - FEB 8, 2013
Very interesting Imperial IPA; I can't say I've had an unfiltered one before. The pour is quite murky and deep orange, with an off-white head. Good, deep flavor that is unique in its heaviness -- the hop notes and bitterness are there, but not in their usual spritely form. Unusual overall, but nevertheless quite good. Having a hippo on the label is apropos for sure!
