UPDATED: MAY 6, 2008 (USA) Got this one courtesy of Afireinside96, thx . Med-yellow color with a sm-white head. There is a mild corn aroma to this Lager. The taste is of a sweet malt, But a bit on the watery side dispite what the label said. Not bad !!

bottle poured into a lager glass. pours a deep golden color with minimal white head that quickly recedes to just a few bubbles on top. smells sweet and grainy with a bit of corn. flavor of toast and cookie, much better than I anticipated from the smell. it has a pretty full body for a pale lager. it isn’t the best out there but it is drinkable and I don’t mind the fact that I have 5 more to drink.

Side note, on the bottle it proudly proclaims "You’ll never miss the water!" What the hell is that supposed to mean? New Jersey isn’t noted for the best water to begin with. I’m really confused.

River Horse Lager ABV: 5.5% Calories: estimated at 150C Volume: 12 oz Glass: tulip Purchased at: Sampler at Glendale Liquors Price per fl oz: $14.99 / 144 fl oz = $0.10 per fl oz Consumed at: Home sensory first impression: Nice head, nice aroma, simple, but beautiful color. Taste is simple, but deep. Warm, enjoyable, rich. Color is bright and fiery. A very nice example of a lager, and not typical. Aroma/Olfactory: Malt flavor is: caramel, sweet, almondine, toasted, and a bit peppery. Hop flavor is: floral, airy, and herbaceous. Leafy greens come to mind. Yeast flavor is: dust, moldy, dirty, dry Other flavors include: ginger, maltiness and sugar, grapes, pine. Visuals/Appearance: Color is: bright, golden, yellow, fiery. Sunlight. Liquid is: clear, sparkling, pretty. Head and lace are: minimal head with no lace. White to off white. Taste/Flavor: Maltiness or Sweetness level is: medium Hoppiness or Bitterness level is: medium Sour level is: light Palate/Tactile: Body or Mouthfeel is: medium Texture is: gritty, sandpapery. Something to hold on to, definitely. Carbonation is: lively, active. Finish is: middle to long, and darkly sweet. Overall experience: I really enjoyed this beer, and I’m not usually a fan of lagers, but this one has some depth. I liked the sweetness, the hoppy balance, the malt depth, and the color. I did not like the lack of head and lacing, but a small price to pay.

12 oz bottle. The body is hazy orange with slight carbonation and no head. The aroma is malt and bread? Taste is barley and malt. I was expecting a lot more...but im not sure why?

Bottle and served in pils glass: Clean golden hue with a mostly lasting frothy head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of wet soft bread and cereal grains with a hint of DMS along with mild noble hop presence and a surprising peppery ester. The taste is sort of sweet and malty with just a hint fruity twang leading to a chalky flowery aftertaste. Damn it, the peppery vapour found on the nose is not on the palate. The mouth feel is fizzy but not really that refreshing. Note to brewers, either make something completely tasteless and watery or step this beer up a notch with more noble hops and better attenuation.

Gold beer with a fizzy white head. Very light aroma, mostly of cereal. Sweet beer with some bready malts. Mostly table sugar with some caramel. Something chemical in here. There is some lemon citrus in the end. Not a very good beer. Thanks to Kramer17801 for the bottle.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear yellow gold body under a quickly fading fizzy white head that vanished to a thin ring within seconds. The nose is more DMS than anything, no note of corn in the commercial description, but I’d be surprised if there wasn’t any used. I can’t smell any hops at all. The flavor is barely there, this is just a small step up from Coors Light. Very watery, light bready malt, minimal to no hops, and a corn laced finish. Mouthfeel is thin and light bodied, with a touch of clingy doughiness on the finish. Moderate fizzy forced carbonation. Not much going on here, clearly made to compete for the BMC drinkers.
