Pours a black color with a caramel colored head. Has an aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. Has that sweet milk stout taste with a nice layer of bitters and a velvety chocolate finish. Perhaps some coffee notes as well. Medium to light mouthfeel. Could use it a bit thicker. Very tasty nonetheless.

Pours thin and black with a medium brown head. Aroma is roasted, yet sweet and chocolatey. Taste is also sweet but balanced by a bitter coffee finish. Palate was on the thin side. Good, but not exactly worth seeking out.

Bottle. Dark pour with a bit of brown head. Chocolate, milk chocolate, roasted malt aroma. Pretty sweet but, also finishes slightly roasty, nice.

12 oz bottle pours dark brown, almost black. Good dark cream head. Aroma dominated by chocolate and some vanilla, slightest hints of pine. Solid sweetness with incredibly smooth body. This is incredibly sessionable and light, and if I wanted to drink a stout in the summer, itíd be this.

A dark brown body with a big brown head that had mild retention. Aroma was a mix of milk chocolate and a roasted coffee note. Hints of unsweetened cocoa powder where also present. Flavor was initally sweet but had just the right amount of malt notes to balance it out. A nice creaminess about the beer. Palate was decent, but not to heavy either.

Bottle from Caponeís. Onyx pour w 3f tan head. Nose is dark choc, molasses, dark cereally malt, and a dry, oaty, somewhat lactic, oaty, and creamy flavor, but rather light on the palate and not terribly complex. Despite those minor faults, this is one of the best River Horse brews I have yet quaffed.

Another great beer from river horse. I enjoyed this beer alot especially the fact that its not over-bearring. Good for a night-cap

12oz bottle in an English pint glass. Pours black with a thin, tan head. Aroma of caramel and coffee. Sweet like a milk stout should be, so great for the style. Body is average, and the texture is oily. A nice coffee flavored finish with toasted malts. A really good milk stout.

(Old BA rate - bottle) Near black color with brownish hues. Thin, slightly tan head. Really close to the smell of actual milk, with some malted milk sweetness and roasted malt. Not as sweet or milky as suggested in the aroma, and the toasted malt characteristics really shine through. Nice little snap of carbonation on the tongue toward the finish. A bit viscous, and coating. Definitely what I would expect from the style. This is a very drinkable milk stout in that it is not as sweet as some of the other brews Iíve tried in the style. Pretty basic overall, but still some nice subtle complexities

Bottle, batch 005. Pours reddish brown, appears pretty much black in the glass, with a small dark brown head. Aromas are chocolate malt, dark chocolate, cherry, alcohol, slight hops, and some woodiness. Flavor is malty, sweet, and nutty; Iím getting roasty chocolate, sour cherry, and alcohol. Itís carbonated, sour dry, and pretty smooth. This is pretty good.
