Growler from Canal’s in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Opaque black color with a small, brief beige head. Rich, dark roasted coffee aroma. Sweet roasted malt flavor is very coffee-like with notes of milk chocolate and toffee. Very smooth and creamy with a touch too much sweetness for my liking. Good, none the less.

Bottle:   Pours black, thin beige head, light lacing.   Sweet roasted coffee nose, with cream and sugar.   Bright roastiness up front, definite cream and sugar, with a very soft hop aspect.   This very much comes across as heavily sweetened black coffee.   The roasted bitterness compliments the chocolate like malt backing.   Very nice.   Body and mouthfeel are full to moderate.   Lingering sweet roastiness along with coffee and chocolate.   Sweet, yet roasted bitterness.   One of the better River Horse brews I have had.

12 FL. OZ. bottle shipped from NJ by dmac. Thanks! To snifter, it pours a rusted, charcoal dark brown: creamy buff/yellow-brown head, 1˝. fingers in length. Aromas of oatmeal, tobacco, and raisins, followed by molasses, burnt toast, coffee syrup, sugar plums, and milk chocolate. Tastes of black liquorice; star anise; sweat; refined sugar; chocolate almond milk; toast. Earthiness and medicinal hops by swallow. Some plastic, too. Not bad at all. Easily drinkable.

Milk Stout? More Coffee Stout would say. Lots of aroma of coffee. Very taste of coffee. Long aftertaste. Perfectly okay beer.

On cask at dba Brooklyn. Aroma is milky espresso, which wasn't expected and is damn pleasant. Yeah, the coffee here is just fantastic. Taste doesn't hold the same depth, as the milky sweet stout dances with the oats at a middle-school arm length. Zero coffee on the palate. Silky body courtesy of the oatmeal. Good, not great.

12oz bottle. Pours thick black color with a mocha colored head. Aroma has subtle notes of chocolate, toffee, and lactose. Taste is semi-sweet with chocolate, molasses, and a touch of lactose.

Great nose sweet lactose not over powering. Well balanced flavors feels nice on the pallet. Smooth and easy drinking. Nice warmth of the alcohol through out the beer. Would definitely revisit.

Location: Draft at Texas Arizona, 3/15/13

Aroma: The nose has sweet malts, roast, milk/lactose, and some chocolate notes as well
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a lasting small tan head and light lace
Flavor: This one is medium sweet, roasty and chocolaty, with minimal bitterness
Palate: This brew is medium bodied, it feels a bit creamy, and it has fairly lively carbonation
Overall Impression: I would say that this one is more milk stout then oatmeal stout. Pretty good stuff. It doesn’t really standout, but it is a quality offering.

pours dark with a small tan head that fades quickly. coffee is the dominant scent and shows up again in the flavors. There’s a little chocolate and the snap of hoppiness at the finish. It’s thinner than many "big" stouts, but that makes it rather drinkable.

Pours a cola color with foamy tan head. Nice nose of roasted coffee. Very smooth, with some coffee and dark chocolate notes, some sweetness, and finished off with some toasted malt. Not as heavy as other stouts. Very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
