Notice a unique aromatic nose with a hint of vanilla esters, which comes from the Belgian ale yeast. Tripel Horse has a big body and rich mouth feel and finishes mostly dry with only a touch of sweetness. If you shy from some of the sweeter Belgian ales, we think you will enjoy this one. The palate improves with age, so keep some on hand and you can ride Tripel Horse down a new path with each opened bottle.

I was actually upset by this beer. Now, Iím a huge fan of Belgian style, but the wheat feature in this brew honestly made me want to vomit. I donít mean to say that itís not great, itís just not my style. I donít drink wheat beers. But this brew masquerading as a delicious dark beer tricked me. Iíve actually even dumped a few of them.

I poured it from the bottle into a pint glass. It pours a cloudy golden color with a white head and some lacing. The aroma was underwhelming. It was alcohol and spice. The taste was yeast, banana, clove, and booze. There was a nice carbonation with a slight alcohol burn. The alcohol was noticeable but still hidden for the actual content. This was pretty good.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy gold. Smells strongly of yeast and spice. Taste is a burst full of flavor (at first earthy, malty, and yeasty with a hint of vanilla) that gradually ripens into strong spice and alcohol. Finish is very boozy.

Poured a golden color with a white head. Aroma was of light caramel, yeast and booze. Flavor similar, pretty standard American tripel.

Pours chestnut brown body with creamy white head. Yeasty biscuit, citrus peels, honey, and coriander aroma. Spicy taste of cloves, vanilla, and a slightly sweet fruitiness. Full slick feel. Smooth finish with long drying backend.

12 oz. bottle from old notes. Pours a hazy amber/copper color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma had nice caramel, fruit, yeast, and honey. The flavor had more sweet honey, yeast, a splash of fruit, thin body for a 10% tripel, glad I got to try this, but there are many better examples.

Bottle from Ron. Bright light orange. Minimal head or lacing. Spicy fruity nose, with bananas and yeasty notes. Fruity palate, sticky, good, nice consistency. A bit zingy from the carbonation. A bit of hops takes away the sweet at the end. I really enjoyed.

Murky , golden/orange color . Aroma of Belgian yeast , spices , banana. Sweet , yeasty taste . Rather dry finish . Not bad overall , but too sweet for tripel .

Poured a cloudy light gold color with faint orange shading like peach juice, with a medium white head that reduces efficiently. Lovely nose of vanilla, pie spices, apples, raisins with a slight medicinal note. The latter might be a subtle showing of the 10 percent ABV, which is otherwise hidden until near the finish. Like its Belgian cousins, this evolves in the glass (as well as in the cellar), and is worth the time spent. Initial carbonation can be assertive, but reduces to a nice tingling. Palate hits banana, candy sugar and green grapes. Medium body with a mildly dry finish, and that alcohol brings a pleasant warmth. This is a sipper, and provides a very credible American homage to its Belgian forebears. Iíve sampled it several times over a year, and it does seem to be improving with age.

12 oz bottle into a Porter Bar . Murky, golden body with a decent head. This is rather spicy tripel with overly coarse carbonation. More bitter than tart and more tat than sweet. Fairly complex flavor includes some yeast and bready malts.
